...SBI pretty much admits to it, but says that it isn’t forced because including DEI characters is an integrated part of a great storytelling experience.

It feels right until your social circle is 10 people in various sized groups, then it’s a bit of a bummer.

It’s a heck of a non-apology. It’s basically the entire narcissist’s prayer in one statement.

Another Bethesda customer service response pushed back on a review critiquing the game’s many loading screens for how they interrupt space travel and exploration.... “We believe that shortcoming will not hinder our players from getting lost in the world we created.”

Seems like you hit on the reason why giving gift cards to adults is a great idea: responsible folks will tend to save their money and not spend it on themselves. Giving them a gift card turns it into “fun” guilt-free money.

Would be nice if we could actually see anything, instead of watching a full-screen video inside a vertical video inside a reduced-sized TikTok embed.

Yeah, the whole video is cringe.

Sounds like it’s probably not for you, then! But plenty of folks are looking for games with a lot to do over a long time.

> Like does one of us go to space and do we leave a robot here to keep you company?

> “You want to make solo campaigns without the need for a DM?”

It really depends on the game. I usually use games to unwind after work, so familiarity and a long playtime can be good. Especially if I can get a good play session in with an hour or two.

The multiple bonus actions thing is specifically a Thief Rogue ability. In 5e the thief gets access to do new things with their existing bonus action. In BG3 they get an extra bonus action!

Not really. Even if someone has made their own custom campaign, it’s being mediated by a video game.

Yes, but there’s definitely some tradeoffs with multiplayer + custom characters. Once someone adds a custom multiplayer character to your party, they’re stuck in the party forever even after that player signs out.

D&D and Baldur’s gate serve two different needs for me.

Dear Lord, if they released a campaign builder tool and mod support they could be the only CRPG people play. Become the D&D of PC.

As a UX professional “you don’t blame the user”.

The determination with which they pursue their horndoggery is really off-putting to me.

“...a drop in viewership, which led a producer to place the blame squarely on the short attention span of younger viewers.”

So if we’re talking ETHICALLY, I’d like my cut, or for them to not use my work.
