Looking at this on my screen with brightness turned all the way up, I can see what you mean. The whites could be brighter, but this is actually the lighting we had (post midday, very diffuse and not very bright/very greyish). We could probably get away with tweaking it a bit whiter.

You can just pretend your 1D emailed you, it's alright :P I'm still slightly traumatized from being underprepared so thank you for being super prepared. Best boyfriend ever.

It makes a lot more sense to me to use it rather than to rely on the shutter button having a dual-purpose function. Back button focusing allows me to recompose an image after I get the focus, without worrying about the shutter button refocusing the image. Your thumb is right by there anyways, might as well use it.

First shot with a fast lens is underexposed? :p anyhoo, these are amazing. My favorite is the second from the bottom, just straighten it and unfff. The lighting is pretty awesome in all of these.
...I'm jealous. Ahem. I'll stop using my not-5dii for this weekend c: HINT HINT

I can always post. I just can't do photo dumps anymore :( also, you don't always have to aim for solid black. Visual depth to backgrounds isn't the worst, though 'tis personal preference I suppose.

That wasn't construction paper. That was nice, $3 a sheet Canson paper. I would imagine that the quality does make a difference, as regular construction paper is very fibery and could do unflattering things with the light. Or maybe I'm just trying to justify my taste in paper. Either way, if you'll be doing setups Read more

The sunlight glinting off the wing is perfect, and the focus is also perfect. Simple and kinda heavenly. Maybe a tighter crop would highlight the subtlety? If that even makes any sense, but the bokeh at the top is bright and distracting to me. Now I need to see if I've taken any perfect shots lately...

He got a 35mm f/2, and I got an Elan 7E, which this picture was taken with!

I always do too! I want to have a revisit any theme week, for all us tardy types :P I love how grey and ethereal this is. You can't really be sure where the ocean meets the fog, or even the rope seems to just trail off and disappear. Haunting.

Rainbow! The colors are so rich in this, and your car makes an excellent foreground :P I still think it looks more surreal in black and white. And flipped.

I love this! Taken at night, presumably with streaks of cars' lights in the back? Question is, what happened with the cool orange stripeyness?

I should post more often, too, but higher education is getting in the way. Mmmrrr. Any backstory to this? He looks so tired, but the lighting on his face is nearly ethereal. It's wonderful.

These are wonderful! Makes me want to go back to Paris. I love how it looks at night, but time has erased most of the whimsy with the plethora of lights and ads and cars... ahh. Thank you for sharing!
