Do not hate on Dessa! Would be awesome to get her some national notice.

Don’t tell us! Tell your fellow men! Yell, scream if you have to!

Ha-fucking-ha from Wisconsin, where it is currently snowing. Oh, wait, you probably don’t know what that is...um, snow is...take a margarita, remove the alcohol and all other ingredients except the ice (and the salt). Pour it over yourself. First you will be frozen. Then you will be soggy. And once you dry, you’ll

You think they vet people? Naw. That’s how ultra-conservative Sheriff Clarke ran and won as a Democrat in Milwaukee for so many years. He registered as a Democratic candidate; I don’t think he got much (if any) money from the local party, but there’s no gatekeeper saying who can and can’t run under a particular party

Anyone watching The Good Place?

This, exactly. I went on a school trip in college from Minnesota to Georgia. At some point one of our hosts pulled us aside and said another one of our hosts was bothered by us calling her by her first name instead of “Miss X.” The cultural difference had never occurred to us, and we were pretty mortified.

I hate being called ma’am, but you know what? When someone calls me that, I keep my damn white lady mouth shut because I know they’re intending it respectfully. So much easier than the path this teacher took.

I don’t listen to Pod Save America, but I listen to Love it or Leavitt, which is related. I like it because Leavitt (the speechwriter you mentioned) always makes a point of having more than one woman or POC in the guest lineup. I’m under the impression that Pod Save is just the two guys in their own echo chamber?

My brain read the last line and then added *mic drop*

He didn’t phrase it well, but I’m pretty sure he’s saying other white people (not POC) have to reach out and give people trying to leave the supremacist movement some sympathy, so that they feel like they can belong somewhere other than in a hate group.

A film where two women talk about why they aren’t married yet doesn’t necessarily pass the Bechdel test either--unless it’s because they’re waiting to validate their lesbian love in the eyes of the state until the capitalist patriarchy has been dismantled.

53% of white women...

Yeah, that’s where I’m stuck. It’s perfectly legal now, so do I just put out a sign saying “Plan B here”? Is “Call this burner cell phone number for an anonymous drop-off” overkill? Just putting it out on FB won’t do much good, since my friends are all similarly plugged in to resources and activism. Taking

Yeah. I have enough disposable income that I want to start giving Plan B away to those who need it. Just need to figure out how to get the word out beyond my own FB feed.

Now playing

I think it was the episode of The Muppet Show with Raquel Welch that Miss Piggy asked her to teach her how to be a “sex goddess.”

Oof, one thing I learned from my years in DC is that there are way more libertarian bros out there than you’d like to think. And they all own a copy of The Fountainhead.

As someone who was going through an awkward adolescence at the same time as Chelsea, I’ve always had a soft spot for her.

But he mustard all his strength and kept going.

Exactly. He’s a dumbass who should have gotten a ticket, and probably wouldn’t have done it again. But being a dumbass does not, in any way, justify the abuse he suffered. I left a window open once before I left for vacation. Got robbed. I was a dumbass, but the robber still committed a crime.
