I think your support of this in light of your experience makes perfect sense!

This comment says it all.

Thanks for the perspective, I'm at work and cannot read the original story. I still think after reading this post and then calling people "evil" does not convey very good comprehension of it.

Oh, gotcha.

It is definitely a complicated situation with no obvious solutions, but I think, as with all things, awareness and the willingness to try to address the issue will bring more answers to light.

Wow, I learned something new today! Despite the semantics, I stand by my post, but you've certainly given me something to think about.

You missed the point of the article and the point of my post.

That's right - he does!

They're not trying to "cure" it, they're using chemical castration to lessen the sex drive. I think most medical professionals understand by now that people cannot be cured of their sexual inclination.
That is the exact dilemma these doctors are faced with.

It seems like what you really cannot comprehend is the story.

I applaud the bravery and compassion of all of the doctors who are addressing this issue. It sums up my thoughts on pedophilia, which are not acceptable by the vast majority of people.

Probably not in Oregon, especially right on the Washington border. Weeds pretty low on the priority list for our police.

Babysitting can definitely do that!

You're silly!

I believe I said under three. Counterpoint, invalid.

I agree.

As with many problems with kids, it all comes back to the parents...

Also curious - are you this patronizing to your students?

Well my son had a friend who had a disorder that made it difficult for him to make it to the bathroom all the time, but outside of that, I've just never had that experience.

I've stated my credentials elsewhere, but I've worked with many children (including my own) under the age of six, and have only ever had that experience from one of my son's friends who had a disorder which made it difficult for him to always make it to the facilities.
