Great analysis! I don't have a lanai, but I could translate that to my backyard. I go barefoot on the beach and try to avoid public showers. I've been known to wear flip-flops (slippers?) to work, but only on Friday. Sandals are the best thing ever!

When I was a youngster (in the early '80's) I also thought we were post-racial. It had a lot more to do with my sheltered upbringing than the real life experience I've had since.
That's so PNW!
I had a discussion about this with the fashion police at work. We were torn between which is more offensive at the office - flip flops or sandals with socks? (I voted sandals with socks)
Interesting.
Apparently the bunny owners I've known weren't the neatest.
And they're stinky.
My boyfriend's pet name is Bunny. I have the best bunny ever!
He's amazing! I went to UNM when he was there, and he always had very odd ads in the campus newspaper for models.
Is that Joel Peter Witkin's work?
Reminiscent of the whale spout! (I couldn't find a good picture)
What's wrong with side ponytails?
Ugh. After I posted this I wondered if it might do more harm than good for some people. But hey, at least you're tall! I'm only 5'3" and 5 lbs looks like 10 on me.
Your post was not at all chastising! I made this apology to everyone that responded, because I felt it needed to be done. Thanks for your kind words!
Thank you. I love your name, it's my son's nickname.
Body image is so fucked up. At least in my experience. As I said, my reaction has way more to do with my insecurities than any aesthetic preference.
Thank you. It was necessary.
It was a blanket apology. I'm embarrassed that I made such a body-snarking comment, and I'm trying to own it, because healthy bodies truly do come in all shapes and sizes.
It really is a loaded issue. As much as I view myself as a confident, independent, desirable woman, those insecurities just spill out at the most inappropriate times.
I apologize. I regret posting such an offensive post. It truly says more about me and my insecurities than anything else. No snark.
