Go back to Whole Foods gabacho!

This is a particularly good week for movie titles begging to be made fun of!

"You mean Schindler's List."

More like The Interminable amirite

I'm just hoping for a section where he identifies all the people he's ever obliquely attacked/insulted in his songs!

It's funny that you mention Zacharek, because she's (at least in her old Salon reviews — I haven't followed her work since) one of the critics I think of as "the bad kind" of contrarian, the kind who reflexively hates anything mainstream, but doesn't usually express a definite point of view behind that rejection,

I think that's a time-waster of an argument

I'm not saying you should! I just feel that, while it's a perfectly valid factoid in support of despising Armond White, which many have gleefully latched onto, I don't feel that particular kerfuffle had any purpose other than to feed a bit of raw meat to people who already hate White. A writer said something shitty in

the Holocaust is also something that pretty much everyone agrees was bad, and yet no one ever asks this question when a new Holocaust movie comes out

Come on now, be fair — what you're referencing has to do with a decades-long personal feud between White and Baumbach (or more accurately, White and Baumbach's mother, which somehow transferred down to the son). And the actual quote isn't as strong as you suggest:

Point well taken! Yes, a society that has groups of people who deny that the Holocaust happened probably can benefit from regular history lessons. And your comment calls to mind so many people I've encountered who use the excuse of "what's the point of rehashing something that happened 150 years ago?" to rationalize

At last, the long-awaited Dillinger Escape Plan biopic!

GARRETT MORRIS IS SEEN IN A BUBBLE ON THE BOTTOM RESTATING THE DIALOGUE FOR THE HARD OF HEARING

ZING!

Not having seen the film, whatever I might have to say about it is 85% bullshit, but how necessary is a film about slavery in particular (as opposed to racism in general), one that appears to be pretty straightforwardly anti-slavery, given that anybody remotely likely to see this film will undoubtedly agree that, yes,

No — although the distinction seems to have become muddied these days, I think there's a significant difference between a provocateur, which White certainly is, and a mere troll. White does deliberately challenge consensus opinions, but I never get the sense that he's doing it merely for the juvenile thrill of pissing

I was hoping it was a sequel to This Is the End

Debased on a true story!

It's how we do things in America. What are you a Communist?

Gray Davis has actually had a distinguished avant-garde filmmaking career under his stage name, David Lynch.
