The gross parts arent numerous, but they are very gross. It is my daughters favorite movie.

I think the best stories have been the adaptions. Coraline, Boxtrolls. Was ParaNorman? I like Kubo more than you, I think, but I am not going to disagree. The weakest parts of these movies is the writing, clearly. And with visuals like this, a supremely frustrating shortcoming.

I’m of the opinion absence of choice is a HUGE factor in the turn off for reading. Forced reading lists are part of it. It’s one thing to show a child some books and say “these are considered great books - you’d like them” vs. “here’s some books you have to read, read them.”

The best strategy I used for getting

This really hit most of my thoughts. I LOVED the skrull reveal. This movie kept me guessing on stuff. The Mar-Vell reveal was great as well. Once she hit earth, it was a much more satisfying movie. Not sure how they could have limited the Kree stuff, but it wasn’t as interesting.

I loved most of it - casting,

If this is the last Fox-Helmed X-Men... well, I know what I would do and that’s go nuts for two hours. Phoenix was one of several of Last Stand’s woes, but this still doesn’t look that great. Not that that’s a hot take or anything.

The X-Men movies haven’t pulled me in for several. I think First Class was the last one

I appreciate the lack of negativity for the originals here. The Thing From Another World is absolutely incredible and ahead of its time in some ways. The Thing is also incredible. I personally prefer the first, but barely.

It’s great to have this as a parallel narrative when teaching your kids about acceptance.

This is also noteworthy - maybe more on the nose - as a cultural acceptance piece. In order to function properly, you have to act like White Diamond - in fact, she’d be happy to assimilate the gems of color into her whiteness!

UGH FINE.

What else would they ride?

Huh. You mean they went ahead and made a fun movie and people liked it? So weird its successful without being drab and dark and gritty.

The Superman theme is iconic and incredible. From the starting fanfare to the uplifting main melody. It’s reminiscent but way better of the original cartoon themes, an incredible march for a hero. Plus, it literally says “Superman” right in the melody - don’t tell me you can’t hear it!

Very Aardman to me, reminiscent of Pirates!

Yeah. Great respect for LaMarche’s voicework, but that was not much like Vincent Price.

This movie looks bananas. I thought it was going to be a turkey, but it looks they are embracing the sheer ridiculousness of the premise, playing it straight where needed and delivering a fun movie.

It’s like they said over at Slice long ago - frozen pizza sucks. The expensive kind is marginally better than the cheapest. So, just go with Totino’s.

Thats part of the theme, though. Michael is really only reasonable with his family - he needs to have someone to compare himself to. When all he’s got is George Michael, it’s too hard.

The recaps are arduous. Easily disposable, and I don’t think the skip recap button pops up as it should.

I agree on Saga. It’s a bit rambling, but not boring.

Pride of Baghdad is incredible. One of the greatest comics I’ve ever read.

I feel they buried the lede here.
