Our local dealer was using several for loaners , I suspect this is why. My wife was loaned an Arteon Type R with 4 Motion, nice but not worth the $$

What do you expect for a company with the laziest design department in automotive history?

This type of issue used to happen when there were several brands of tires in s racing series and each manufacturer tried to push the limits to “be the best”. A big reason for spec tires was to avoid this and ensure each driver had a safe set of tires. When you are the only supplier, why would you push the lots like

Most of them would upgrade to the Tiguan or Atlas and wouldn’t look back. A premium, lowered wagon with a coupe roofline doesn’t have a significant customer base, even among former wagon owners. Hell, when they couldn’t lie about their TDis anymore, VW pretty quickly discontinued the Jetta wagon, and the Passat wagon

Pretty much. If you want a liftback sedan, are you going to buy the 268hp fwd car that will get mistaken for a passat, or the 300hp rwd one that will get mistaken (ironically in this case) for an audi. I’m talking about the Kia stinger, which starts with a lower base price. Top trim the kia stinger is more expensive

All touch controls, premium fuel required (gas is pricey these days), decent fuel economy, legendary VW reliability.  Yeah that’s going to be a no.

Too little car + too much money = doesn’t sell

Dozens more.

Black wheel “mod,” be it flaking rattle can or powder coated, tell you about the type of owner you’re dealing with.

Andy is objectively correct and Steve objectively wrong, Smarts are terrible. I was given one by a German rental company that was supposed to have reserved a compact VW for me and failed to tether car to reservation. Even inside the city, Smarts suck donkey dick, their size is literally the only thing they have going

The Haldex system in the VW’s isn’t bad, but it’s a FWD based system that can only send 50% of the power to the rear. Even the new “drift mode” doesn’t allow more than that to the rear. The Quattro system is just more robust and always mechanically linked.

...AND THUS IT CAME TO PASS THAT BLACK WHEELS WERE DEEMED TO BE OUT OF STYLE AND EVERYONE MOVED ON...Thank God. Black wheels should be reserved for three things: 1) Snow tires. 2) Taxis that have lost their hubcaps.  3) The Blues Mobile.

No Dice! Sure it’s clean and has lowish miles but not at that price. In todays market, maybe $15K on a good day.

I don’t think I could pay over 20K for anything that had a cold-air intake. It screams “my teenage son drove this car and was hanging around an auto parts store and...”

Just no. If you must indulge in such nonsense, at least put the factory bits back on when you sell it.

Nice car, but the seller’s starting bid is already at dealer retail value. The buy it now price is a joke.

89,000 miles, all  1/4 mile at a time... How many times has this thing been ridden hard and put away wet? No mention of ANY maintenance. ND all the way back to Lansing.

What? An Audi that isn’t black/white/silver or 50 shades of grey?

I seriously cross shopped the Arteon when I got my A4. The Arteon loaded leased out a little higher than my mid tier trim A4, so it was a pretty simple decision for me. Had the R motor been an option at the time it might have made a difference. It’s a BEAUTIFUL car in person.

I’m really amused by how everyone seems utterly horrified by the haircuts everyone’s rocking this season. Like, have they ever seen a photograph from the eighties?

I do think it would be cool if they skipped to college for the final season.  They could do lots of eighties college cliches. We’d eat that shit up.
