$200/yr per EV is punishment to EV owners, and Texas legislators know that. About $60/year would be parity with an average gas car, doing average miles per year.

Because you can buy a brand new Corolla for the same money as a 3 year old one or a little more, and get a lower interest rate buying new vs used, which can actually give you a lower monthly payment and give you a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty on top of that.
From that WaPo article:
Toyota actually knew they had defective accelerator pedals (in european models and US market models) that stuck in the applied position and lied about it to regulators for years while attempting a coverup. This resulted in them getting a 1.2 billion dollar fine for the lies and the coverup.

Or they could, y’know, raise their gas tax for the first time in more than 30 years.
If it’s currently titled outside of California, absolutely. If it is titled in California and had been registered in the past, he could sell it on a PNO as-is. That’s the only way around smogging before sale that I’m aware of. But I very much doubt that’s the case here, and anyone who buys this car expecting t0…
Doesn’t matter. Because last time I checked, engine swaps in california require all the original engine’s smog equipment to be present and working, and in the original place. Including the cats, smog pump, emissions solenoids and vacuum system, canister and purge valve, EGR, everything.
ND. Make it stock and with full service records for NP
Inexpensive level 2 curbside chargers are already a thing, here is one of several in downtown center city Philadelphia, where most rowhouses don’t have garages . They can also be piggybacked onto street lights.
So it’s worth $20,000 less today, vs. a year ago. Got it.
Back in 2019 we bought a Bolt for our second car/ main daily rather than a model 3, due in part to Musk’s lying and general erratic shittiness. In the 4 years after that I have been so glad to have NOT bought a Tesla. And the Bolt has been great, it does exactly what we need it to do and when we needed to get it…
What does that mean, re: this topic?
That has nothing to do with it. Nobody is going to spend $30k on a new battery assembly for a car that’s worth half that after it’s fixed. And high dealer parts costs and repair prices are an industry wide issue across every manufacturer and both gas and electric cars.
For example - Hondas are known for blowing spark…
We saw those buildings during a 2018 visit to Detroit for a corporate conference at the Renaissance Center. So glad to see they’re being fixed up and put back into use.
I have a ‘19 Bolt (bought new) and had a ‘13 Fit Sport (also bought new).
Styling is very similar. Both are pretty utilitarian in shape and styling, but the Fit has amazing interior packaging and room for adults and cargo in a way the Bolt physically cannot, due to battery placement.
But the Bolt has performance,…
Ex dealer service manager, former GM master tech and current Bolt owner here (3x.)
Nobody should buy a factory new battery pack from a dealership. Get a used one, get a reconditioned one or repair your existing pack with an independent shop. All of these options are a fraction of that cost.
Yeah, we still have the ‘19 Bolt we bought new and we’re very happy with it. If your lease has a good buyout price you might want to pull the trigger on that when the time comes if you’re not looking for a faster DC charge rate by then.
Me too, and there are tons of Bolts here. They are the value play for people who need a second car and want an EV to beat our ridiculous gas and service prices, and our local Chevy dealer stocks and sells loads of them.
Bolts are about $26k here in the US to start, or $19k with the federal tax credit. It’s a screaming deal for the power and range and that’s why Bolt sales have gone way up this year.
Ford is selling every Maverick it can build
