You’re not wrong there

Because they’re using old accident data from 2012-2013 and distracted driving and accident rates have gone up significantly since then.

That’s the point I’m making, yes.

Pigment or no, UV exposure over time causes damage to automotive finishes. The high gloss of the new clear coat on a fender next to old finish on a door can be very noticeable.

This is pure gold, thanks for sharing.

Getting rear ended by a distracted driver is a lot more likely now then when that was published. I’ve been riding and driving for several decades now and i’ve been rear ended three times by distracted drivers while stopped, twice on motorcycles and once in a car, all in states that don’t allow lane splitting. One of

Probably not realistic because of the need to blend the paint with surrounding panels, some of which are fixed like the rear quarters and roof

I was a GM dealer master tech in the mid 90s, doing mostly warranty, recall and PDI work and I can tell you that even the most mediocre new Chevys of that era (think Beretta/Corsica/Cavalier, etc) didn’t have nearly as many problems as this car. Like 1/4 as many.

Not at all. I’ve been in the business for 23 years now, with new vehicle service experience with 12 manufacturers so far (including multiple low volume high end European makes) and that’s by far the worst/longest first year problem list I’ve ever heard of on *any* new vehicle.

I’m also in the new car advising business, and I also told my clients to stay away from the Alfas, for exactly the same reasons. It’s good advice. If you want to be a beta tester at your own expense, *you* buy one.

Cost may continue to decline. Maybe. How much depends on the supply of lithium and cobalt, both of which are hard to find, limited in supply and have spiked in price as demand has risen. There’s no indication that current sources of both of those can sustain the exponential growth in EV production being touted by EV

Yours lasted 1,000 miles? Our ‘17 Renegade 2.4 rental died in rural Idaho with engine problems and had to be towed after a few hundred miles.

Clearly, she needed a Spark instead.

Great ad, nice find. Thanks for sharing. I repair and restore old Cadillacs. Some are older than me, and they run the whole range of condition from $250,000 original survivor to tired, rusty and barely running. But a lot of people worked hard to design and manufacture these rolling icons of American history, and I do

I disagree, and I’ve owned both for 4 years each so far. Maybe that applies to the new ‘15-up one, but the ‘13 Fit Sport with the manual transmission that I have is every bit as fun as my ‘93 Si hatch was. Same great shifter and clutch feel, sharp steering, better tires and brake feel but with a noticeably more rigid

Nope. I had a ‘93 Si hatch - 2326 lbs -and I currently have a 2013 Fit Sport -2540 lbs. The weight difference is a little over 200 lbs, both are 5 speed cars with A/C.

Back when I lived somewhere with winter (not Florida, LOL)

Weight and cost don’t have to be a big factor - a new Fit is about $15k and 2500 lbs, with the same footprint and similar performance to the much sought after ‘92-‘95 Civic Si hatchbacks with far better safety and room for 4 adults. All those airbags, better side impact, better small overlap, better stiffer structure,

Solid advice. Thankfully my clients are savvy enough to not fall for this (or be interested in Mitsubishis at all 🤣)

He said “instead of pulling the fuel pump fuse”, which implies a fuel pump kill switch that leaves everything you mentioned connected.
