This was enough of a problem 20+ years ago - before cellphones - that GM put a pedestrian warning alert on the EV-1 from the get-go. We covered the pedestrian warning system in Service Technical at Spring Hill in 1996.

“assPat”?
Holy crap, that’s bad. This is one reason why I moved to California after owning a shop in the northeast. It’s *so* nice working on 10 year old cars that look as fresh underneath as the 1 year old cars I worked on at dealerships there.
Including rust repair? He got off easy
People with cars that won’t pass pay extra for a “lick n’ stick”. The sticker comes from a vehicle that passes, so their logbook is clean if the state has a random records check at the station. It’s super dumb, but the people who think this scam is a good idea aren’t the smart ones. This scam usually ends when a car…
Honda motor, though
It’s not a SUV, it’s a Top Kick commercial truck. Look at the size of the wheels and tires compared to the secret service agent standing next to it.
Not necessarily true. When I worked for a dealer in NYC we got an MCO (manufacturer certificate of origin, looks like a title) for every new vehicle. When we sold vehicles for track use or to out of state customers, they got the MCO with their name filled out on the back and that was proof of ownership.
Goddamn it, beat me to it :)
Everyone loves to hate lawyers until they need one. My lawyers are awesome and have paid for themselves with the money they’ve saved me by catching defective contract provisions and also being able to kill threats of bullshit lawsuits like this one when I owned a shop.
Sweet, sweet justice!
Not necessarily. The dealer isn’t required to get you the best rate available, nor put you into the lowest rate you qualify for. Even worse, in many states the dealer can add a point or two to your loan and get a kickback for that, and it’s all perfectly legal. Buyer beware!
Jesus H. God, dude. Put one of the garaged vehicles in your driveway under a good cover or rent a storage space for it just for the winter so you can fix your junk inside. Or buy an actual reliable daily driver like a 7 year old civic with 100k on it that someone actually maintained. You know, like a sane person…
Ain’t happening for $10k, and *really* ain’t happening with a diesel for $10k, or even 15k. Who buys total strippers - the full penalty-box models, like the old days - of the type you’re proposing? Not new car buyers. Fleets, maybe, and they’re not buying soft top 2wd 4 cyl strippo Jeeps. You’re answering a question…
Most of America?
Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Tesla reliability and assembly quality glitches are well known, as they rush to radically jack up production to triple and quadruple what they did last year, and this year.
Compared to what? The Q7 has done about 21,000 US sales this year to the end of September. That’s about the same number of Explorers Ford sold in August alone.
Hahaha
Capitol Cadillac in Maryland has a 2016 SS with 4K miles for $45k. It’s mint: http://www.capitolcadillac.com/VehicleDetails/used-2016-Chevrolet-SS-4dr_Sdn-Greenbelt-MD/2844002163
Yes! And the Chevy SS is 74.7" wide.
