It’s cheaper, simpler and easier to find space for in the interior; wires are easier and more design flexible to run than cables.
Only 200 lb-ft of torque, for a brick that undoubtedly weighs nearly 7,000 lbs fully loaded?
How are the timing chains doing? Those cars are notorious for premature, blindingly expensive, engine out timing chain repairs. That’s one of the reasons they go so cheap used.
Welcome to the 1950s
The LaFemme wasn’t a cheap car; I’m pretty sure they weren’t aiming at households on a budget.
People never learn...
Low drag, low weight, small frontal area. The EV1 had the lowest Cd of any passenger car at 0.19 and had a very high actual top speed on level ground, with a mere 100hp or so (if you took the 80 mph electronic limiter off).
Yes, this is the beginning of VW’s malaise era of flimsy plastic, bad components, check engine lights and widespread electrical problems. More than 20 years of age added on hasn’t made those issues better, trim and interior parts are just harder to find now.

Or another Tim McVeigh? Or a sovereign citizen nutbar? Both of those have a solid record of murdering innocent people.
Seriously. The Caliber was a mediocre crapheap from the start, but his brothers’ utter lack of care, maintenance and repair is what made it the worst car in the country and a danger to himself and everyone else around them. Safe operation (as well as safe design and construction) of nuclear plants is a real problem. San Onofre, built on a major fault line. Three Mile Island, Fukushima, Chernobyl, all either operator error, cost cutting for profit, defective design or all of the above. Not to mention all the close calls, where total…
1969-72 caddy Deville convertible. Daily drivable in LA right out of the box, with TH400 automatic, power steering, power disc brakes and strong air conditioning. Mechanical parts are cheap and the drivetrain and suspension are strong and simple. Nice drivers are well within your price range and they're comfortable as…
Good find! That’s a neat little car. Stateside, you could get the HHR Panel van, among others. For a while - 2009 only - you could even order the HHR Panel with the SS option pack, including the turbo DI drivetrain! 260/260 was probably the fastest delivery vehicle around that year..,
What you’re getting here is a VIN with paperwork. Almost certainly a salvage certificate, but it’s still a valid Ferrari VIN with legal documentation of ownership. I'll leave it to your imagination what someone could do with that.
COTD, right there
