Proving that an EV can be just as fast and fun as an ICE car is important for helping to legitimize EVs overall”

How do I say this gently...

Also— why the fuck are you going straight to a volvo or a Merc?

This. Use that newfound income to pay down the debt you've already accrued rather than rushing to use it to support new debt.

Of course. It’s the hyper sensational world we live in. It’s all down to the bias used to present findings. Title your article “Teslas Navigate is Worse that human driving” puts people on the defensive. Change the title to “Teslas Navigate baby steps in right direction but not there yet” and you’ll have a much more

This is correct - but all the Teslarati who live in San Jose, LA, and Denver neither know or care that East Coast cities have crazy, narrow, potholed streets with random closures and work. As does all of Europe, and much of Asia.

Well what do you want to do when the person in front of you is traveling under the speed limit in the left lane of a two-lane highway? Wait there for eternity or pass on the right?

This seems like textbook money grubbing from a tragedy.

Rather than jumping to conclusions in a blindly pro-union screed, please do some research.

Since it’s based on a BMW, does it even have turn signals?

In a couple decades, skateboard EV design should be so simple to adapt to different styles that someone could just plop a 3d-printed custom upper onto one of the platforms.

No worrying about how to fit in an engine, or the gearing/transmission/etc.

It’s just two axles, 1-2 motors on the axles, and batteries in between

You’d think it would be that easy, but lets say a dealer does just that. Sets fair prices, etc. But the cutthroater dealer in the next city over is willing to undercut him by $100. And guess what? More buyers will go to the dealer in the next city over because $100 is $100.

It’s more complicated to order dinner for 4 on GrubHub than it was to buy a Model 3 online from Tesla. Picking it up took perhaps 30 minutes (and the dealer was swamped!)  It doesn’t have to be this way.

My last experience actually wasn’t too bad. I had already picked out my car, test drove, negotiated, and when I came back to pick it up after work I only had to sign some papers and leave. It may have taken an hour or so.

“Charlie Chesbrough, senior economist for Cox Automotive, told AutoNews that he has a working hypothesis. Mainly, it costs more to buy a car these days, and it’s tough to borrow the money to do it. It’s pretty tough to sell to a market that doesn’t have the means to buy.”

Ya, that would make sense. Still can’t believe anyone would purposely put a spy device in their car for the insurance companies to use, but under the guise of saving money I guess people can be talked into anything.

no I don’t want any extra layers, (android auto. apple car play both are a software layer in the infotainment that runs as an additional layer that handles the command processing in the infotainment before handing it off to the phone. what I want is for the phone to just treat the stereo+microphone in the car as a

I’ve asked the same questions with EVERYTHING in modern infotainment systems. Just have them link to the phone and all of its apps and music and internet connection. Manufacturers insist on layering the infotainment over the phone even though the infotainment software cannot be updated, is using inferior hardware

I’m looking for the same thing! All the car needs is a dock and an amplifier. My phone screen is plenty good enough. If my steering wheel buttons were Bluetooth assignable to my phone, that would be even better.

5th gear: can anyone explain to me why the hell the voice commands for controlling my phone are not just passed through to google/siri on my phone instead of having software figure out what you want to do from 12 basic commands the infotainment system knows? I’ve yet to find an infotainment system that just passes it
