The car actually sold reasonably well, selling nearly 25,000 copies, but for some reason two-door cars were more popular in Brazil, and taxi drivers ended up being one of the biggest markets for the VW 1600, which didn't really help its appeal to mainstream middle-class families.

A nice information for non-brazilians: The black license plate is only issued to collectors' vehicles with at least 30 years and a minimum of 90% of originality. With this plate, your car don't need to pay the IPVA (Imposto sobre Propriedade de Veículos Automotores, or Tax over the Property of Automotor Vehicles, but

Passat B5. Sweet square tail lights!

Heavily biased by owning one:

I wrote a quite long post on Oppo some time ago telling the story of the Puma. I think you may like to read it :)

Mute cityyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

I didn't expected to see this badge here...

Someone add lots of "YES YES YES" in this gif, pleaaaaaaaaase!!!

Never laughed so hard, these comments are the best!

Nascar chaos + blue/red shells chaos + lakitu rescue = awesomeness!

I couldn't agree more. I like to say that the PT (workers' party) government is a "babysitter state", because they try to control our lives in every single detail, passing law after law saying everything what we can and can't do.

This! Glad to know you also have good sense.

These things are EVERYWHERE in Brazil, with this awful black plastic coverage. There is also a "4 seater" 3-door version, the Fiat Strada Cabine Dupla (or Double Cab, in english), but I don't think an average adult can fit in the back:

I name Fórmula Jerico, from the brazilian Amazon. Jericos are vehicles built with wood and whichever engines and parts people can find. There is even a "Jericódromo", a circuit built for Fórmula Jerico in the brazilian state of Rondônia. The competition is fierce and dirty, but everyone have a lot of fun.

Man, this shot is great!

What about the brazilian Chevrolet Ipanema? It is a Kadett Wagon which looks nice

Take one Opel Kadett chassis, wrap some sexy new bodywork around it, and viola! You get one Opel GT. Perhaps it wasn't the greatest performer, but it was a lightweight at just 2,000 lbs. That and it had the one of the coolest pop-up headlight designs known to man.

Ok, so the British Interceptor was marketed as a GT car, but if it isn't a muscle car in spirit then I don't know what is. It's Carrozzeria Touring design looks like an Italian AMC, and you could have one with a 440 cid Chrysler V8 and a Torqueflite automatic. Muscle car, indeed.

Ferrari pedal car. Cheapest Ferrari to mantain, and it doesn't randomly catch fire! For $315,00, it is a bargain.
