The list is extensive, for sure, but I didn’t see Island at the Top of the World. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. (I have it on DVD, but if you haven’t seen it I recommend it for all its cheesiness.)

According to Wikipedia, as recently as 2012 Morgan Freeman said he wants to make Rama into a movie but hasn’t read the right script.

I did some research before posting because, like you, I thought Guillermo Del Toro was still working on it. It turns out it has been a favorite project of his that he’s been forced to shelve. My understanding is Guillermo hasn’t given up on it, but I don’t believe it is in development.

You’re right: the 50s-60s cold war genre doesn’t play well with today’s audiences. Without the constant, immediate threat of _Mutually _Assured _Destruction the genre films of that era loose most of themoral of the story” (i.e., stop the arms race...or else).

What about a new Forbidden Planet?

The Rod Taylor movie is a classic. An updated modern one, done well, would be a welcome addition.

I was hooked right up till 1' 42". Then...not so much.

Law enforcement agencies, either government (police) or private (security) often attract individuals with a particular prejudice. The police department often, but not always, is able to weed these individuals out. The ones they don’t weed out end up on the nightly news.

I saw those lightsabers and $200 is nuts.
