You are incorrect about the engineering of the Japanese cars. Actually most US built Toyotas are also engineered in Ann Arbor Michigan. Taoma, Tundra, Sienna, Avalon, Camry(Some model years only). And I don’t know specifics of Honda but they also have an engineering center in East Liberty Ohio.
