My (admittedly not deep, despite having owned a 73 Primmy) Vespa knowledge is that an aftermarket fork was a recommended part of the conversion to a sidecar rig.

My 1973 Primavera 125 had four gears and was light AF. 60mph no problem (not fun though — speed wobble is definitely an issue with a small-wheel bike, but there’s probably an after-market damper for the tuner crowd).
