I only ever saw the Milky Way fully from way out in the country outside of Buenos Aires. It was stunning.

Gnarly.

Sorry, but strong dislike here. A Merc lead sled is an improvement, turning Clark Kent into Superman, but this is not. It just looks fat and clumsy, like an overweight ex-linebacker with a squint. The original is a gorgeous car. This is the automotive version of letting yourself go.

That Sparkle “Be Careful” jam will always be way up there on my playlist, but now the lyrics sound much different. I always liked R Kelly because he depicted the blue-collar regular guy in his lyrics and videos, and it’s crazy listening to that song now how threatening it sounds given what we’ve learned, but I’m not

Garbage rust-buckets every man jack o’ them.

I was about to say that BMW ought to leave this sort of hyperbolic foolishness to Rolls-Royce when I remembered…

No-one in this thread appears to know the difference between CarMax and Carfax.

Probably minimal care. Long-term facilities aren’t luxury places unless your family is playing top-dollar, and she’d been there a decade. I doubt she would have been given pads or tampons for menstruation. She was likely in diapers that were simply removed and discarded daily. Care workers in places like that are minim

Even with a full shutdown you’d still have shift changes, mandated breaks, and so on. The article also talks about 10pm-6am shutdowns, not 11-5, so we’re talking about an eight-hour “day,” not a six-hour one.

I think I would, to be honest. I’ve always liked this car, and I’d love to own one. The F-Type looks and sounds amazing, but it doesn’t appeal to me in the same way.

Yes, that’s a decent analogy. The air-cooled Porsche market isn’t in a bubble. It’s a commodity that has increased in desirability more steeply the last decade or so—as a new customer segment came online—than it had done previously. At best you can hope that in a generation or so those higher prices will remain flat

There are plenty of lower-income L train users who work regular hours too. People have this idea that it’s a shuttle service for middle class people in Williamsburg and Bushwick, but anyone who rides that train early in the morning on weekdays will see the usual blue-collar mix you’ll find taking public transportation

No-one is proposing that the work be conducted while trains are running. The MTA subway system normally runs 24/7. What is being proposed is that, like most NYC subway repairs, the line in question gets shut down overnight and at weekends and work is conducted during those hours. No powered third rail, no passing

All you Subdivision Sallies should move to NYC. We don’t mind if your car has a few dents. We’ll even give you some extra ones!

The MTA runs shuttles for night/weekend shutdowns, especially where there isn’t an alternative.

I’d rather be without it for 0 months, but that’s not the point.

Nights-and-weekends work also sounds nice on paper, but in reality it tends to hurt the least-advantaged New Yorkers the most—the ones working odd hours who don’t have much of a choice when they need the train.

Holy crap I just did some research and I had no idea they were going for so much! I saw one that went for ¥7,000,000!

I am worried the Supra will have the same heavy, chunky feel,

Hmm. One of the most pronounced differences in settings between my wife and I is that the mirror is positioned totally differently after she’s been driving. I would assume that they’ve considered this, but it would be annoying if I had to move the mirror before it recognized me and adjusted all the other settings. I
