Jason, Drop a 2.0 liter VW flat 4 in your โ73 Beetle, add a moderately hot cam and 2 Weber 40 DCOE carburetors and then try to call the result โsmallโ. Monster is more like it
I can relate! I owned a VW Dasher Diesel that required you to switch the a/c off to achieve interstate speeds on an on ramp. After making it to 65-70 mph I could then switch the compressor back on and cool the cabin...unless there was an uphill grade.๐
Letโ see.....2 years old 6355 miles. One wonders how many months were spent parked at a dealership waiting for parts. ย
Just donโt run the VIN in a police check, no telling what that might show.

Nice article! I saw KR on the dirt mile version of the TZ750 at the Indianapolis Mile in the early 70s. Insane barely begins to cover the sight and sound of that combination of bike and rider. Still blows me away to think of that.ย
In the late 60s I knew some hippies who would buy a $100 car, register it to a pseudonym and park it wherever and whenever they wanted in Manhattan. After a few months and the accumulation of massive tickets and fines the city would tow it. They then repeated the process.ย
1960 TR-3 my father bought new. I was 13 and he, knowing how much I wanted to drive it, took us to a country road and let me drive it about a mile. Counting surviving this as good luck he seemed relieved to have escaped this in one piece. I was hooked immediately.ย ย
Eagle River, Alaska January 1998, only had a carport in my rental house and had to replace a puking cam cover gasket in my Merkur, The Merkur Valdez, so my landlord did not have a coronary over the oil spill onย his nice concrete apron. Single digit temps, at least no snow!
I would suggest you track down the Volvo 760 wagon that Paul Newman shoehorned a Chevrolet V8 into and buy it. Or commission a duplicate!
I agree that the show did not fall on itโs face but it still needed Edd. I may watch from time to time nut have removed it from my DVR schedule.
