This is somewhat a problem for cars that are full time AWD too. There is usually some magic dance you have to do to get it to roll. A coworker had an AWD Acura (MDX I think). There was some 20 step process to get it to roll including taking part of the center console apart and then you have to have a special “key”…
Exactly. This isnt an electrical car issue, its a modern car issue.
I sat on the side of 91 for 3 hours once waiting for a tow truck, just south of Hartford.
Apparently the author hasnt been in a car newer than like 2010.
I’m going to comment before reading the article.
Several recent BMW products require you to jack up the vehicle(F10 chassis for example), remove under paneling and turn a bolt on the side of the transmission to engage neutral override for towing. Even for ICE cars, its not always easy...
Where do you live that you can get anything in the world brought to you in the middle of the night through a huge traffic jam in less than 45 minutes?
One saving grace of dealing with broken down cars is that they’re almost always still able to roll
My V50 is lowered 2cm, my alley has such bad potholes and frost heaves in it that I got stuck last year it high centered and the cities response is that the alley maintenance is residents responsibility so to get it repaved I would have to get 75% of the homeowners adjacent to the alley to agree to the cost- 75 or so…
Would drawing a penis on the speed bump have worked, or does that only work for potholes?
If the online form doesn’t work, spray painting a penis around it will.
I think he meant that it only took two days to fix it, and his city is much smaller than Chicago.
Private companies aren’t much better. For a long while a certain delivery company would charge me for shipment from someone I do not know to someone I do not know. Why? Because the recipient of the packages had the same last name as me, and we are in the same city.
We can’t see the car (unless it’s the one behind the Alderman) but we can see the pieces of speed bump. They appear to be about four inches thick, which is not great but not insurmountable.
I don’t expect that his court experience will go any better. My father got a parking ticket for parking in a no parking zone. The zone was not marked. There were no signs. The judge literally said the lack of signs is not relevant. My dad could afford the $400 fine and the lost time in court. For lots of other people,…
Looks like a Lincoln MKZ
This is right. Are we at Jalopnik?
This is a car site, right? There’s no mention of the car he’s claiming is damaged. What is it? Is it a stock vehicle that is high-centering? Is it a slammed 350z that bottoms out at every curb and railroad track? Or is it a Minivan that’s bottoming out as he’s flying over it? It would actually give us some background…
Mr. Hodge, can you let us know what happens with the court case, as a follow up article please?
