The estate will have to pay.

When I test drove an E-Class I didn’t HATE the Merc setup, and I have yet to try any of the Audi products that have it (mine’s a 21 and doesn’t) so I’ll reserve judgement. I think it’s going to be another case of the auto makers taking it too far with removing buttons, then making a correction at some point. At least

Haptic steering controls is of the dumbest trends right now; Mercedes and Audi are no better. Simply awful UX design. The worst part is that it’s a cost-saving tactic - fewer mechanical parts, faster to produce and assemble, etc...

I like VWs and I want this car to do well, but fuck me I can’t stand those haptic buttons on the steering wheel. I test drove a Arteon with them fitted and vowed to never buy a VW product that had them on it. Truly unacceptable (the new UI on the ID4 infotainment is shit too).

No pun intended, but I’ll give that dealership an E for effort.

Did you guys keep that piston? It’s a work of art!

It’s a flathead engine, right? Theoretically you can make the head out of a piece of plywood with spark plug holes drilled in it.

there are definitely some thermoplastics that would hold up a lot better to the heat

At one of the shops I once worked at, we pulled a wooden piston out of an early-80s Ford Escort. We had no idea who installed it, as the customer had owned the car less than a month. It ran. Not well, but it ran. Pretty sure it was made out of a chunk of pressure-treated 4x4.

I mean... if ANYBODY can make plastic rust...

I thought he was converting it to electric. This might work better, it’s also made of plastic

LOL! I mean, it’ll probably run for all of 30 seconds before the plastic finds a way to rust out.

David Tracy is furiously taking notes.

In russia pistons fire you.

Yes, they are apparently trying to defeat our ad blockers. I will install more ad blockers.

My mother had a first year Taurus back in the 80's when it was the IT car for middle-class yuppies who wanted to stay away from luxury brands. We had the car for about three years but I actually remember the burgundy on burgundy velour Chevy Berretta she had as her loaner car the 8 or so times that the Taurus was in

eh, Ford did not declare bankruptcy (cue Michael from the Office) but iirc they took like 5 or 6 billion loan from Uncle Sam.

It’s hard to say if people would rather say “I see they’re back to their old tricks” or “I see they’re still up to their old tricks”. Let’s not pretend Ford didn’t have massive quality and rust issues that were only “figured out” within fewer years than I can count on both hands. Credit where credit is due though:
