Most of that stems from the simple fact that Trump, his supporters, and conservative Christians don’t view prisoners as people at all. In fact I probably wouldn’t be wrong to say that regardless of status (prisoner or otherwise), they wouldn’t view anyone who is LGBTQ as a person anyway.
