“Look, we all know that there hasn’t been an interesting-looking Subaru Impreza since 2007. Good driving cars, sure. The WRX and STI versions are a blast, in fact. But they look boring as all hell.”

CAR LOOKS LIKE CAR

Nope.

It’s an Aston, I have to stay classy for it

I still want one. The day Volvo dies is the day I lose interest in cars forever.

I actually worried about that when I was submitting a headline. But I figured that was good advice too.

On the sliding scale between state-run communism and unregulated capitalism, they’re a good deal closer to the latter than the former. Your description of a cronyist oligarchy sounds more like Russia than China.

This folks, is how you humble brag.

I wouldn’t call it simple... it certainly is a cohesive design from any angle. As oppose to the others you named—a mish-mash of design elements for sake of design. Boring? not one bit.

“they reveal an attractive if a bit boring Mazda crossover.”

I like the Flex!

The same could be said for literally every single car in its class. The sole distinguishing... feature of the Passat is that it’s a VW.
