The Murano and Pathfinder are just as well segmented as the Blazer/Traverse, Passport/Pilot, Edge/Explorer, Santa Fe/Palisade. One is a 5-Passenger comfort/lux/“sporty” iteration, the other a comfort/people carrier. It’s just finding efficiencies with the same platform and powertrain, but targeting different

I don’t think he expects to buy a high-end car for $30k, I think his goal is just to be less obvious based on his car. An old Corolla is a very obvious car. A late model entry-lux something or other will be unquestioned. He doesn’t need to impress, he just needs to not be questioned about it.

Since few of these answers are actually helpful, I’d direct you Infiniti, Lexus, or Acura.

Why would someone with two kids purchase a 40 year old car with essentially no modern safety equipment? I’m sorry, I like you but these answers are all useless.

Nope. Not good enough. If it’s not feasible to get between the speaking engagements and what have you on commercial, then for the good of the planet they should re-space said engagements. No one is important enough to necessitate a private jet. No one.

I fly a lot for work, and commercial travel is a perfectly fine

I’m sorry, I know this is Jalopnik and all...but so few of these complaints reflect issues that the vast majority of car owners actually care about. How often does the average owner reach for the traction control button versus...oh, ANY other button on the dash? Yeah, that’s why its far away.

“This is a communist dictatorial society.” Nah, it’s a just a dictatorship. Communism isn’t a failure because of poor implementations of communism, communism is a failure because it has yet to lead to anything but authoritarian dictatorships.

This fixes pretty much everything wrong with the current CX-5. Good move.

Um, the hordes of people buying this crossover? This is the hottest part of the car market right now. Stupid comment.

Two things:

Y’all know about exchange rates, right? Seeing $98,000 does not automatically mean $98,000 USD. I’m just not sure if you’re understanding this given your argument, or whether you’re thinking that even $65,000k USD is outrageous.

Nah, adding -gate to things is part of the joke. It gets named this because people will make a *huge* deal about something (thus, the likening to the Watergate scandal) when it’s really just a minor, likely fixable thing with their device. It’s meant ironically, and it’s (still funny).

Fun article, but written without reference to the realities of the NA market. We don’t need BOF SUVs unless they are large (for towing) or very special/niche with an established following (like the Wrangler). The X-Terra offers neither in any significant way.

This would upset me less if the Ecosport was actually a good car. But it isn’t, and we all know it isn’t.

This answer was lame and spent 3 years ago.

Not to be pedantic but your original question was “I’m curious though, in that desire, do you not consider what it must be like from their perspective?” That’s a question about his consideration of others based on his initial desire, not his the source of his initial desire.

Your question was completely moot. He’s clearly stated that although he wanted to do this, he hasn’t. Clearly something has stopped him, so clearly “I’m curious though, in that desire, do you not consider what it must be like from their perspective” *has* been considered in some form. Also evident in that he calls the

I’d +100 this if I could.

All the ones that didn’t die are, as are any that did this for a bit and then remembered and didn’t make a news story out of it.

“Proximity keys give some convenience but introduce a host of issues that are not intuitive, and, in some cases, are just confusing.”
