“This past Tuesday, a Vallejo cop flipped on his red and blues in response to what the department’s PR department called “reckless driving.” Rather than slowing down or stopping, the driver apparently sped off through two intersections before colliding with a parked car”

The only thing worse is when people swing right to make a left turn. Bro, just turn the fucking round thing in front of you. I promise your civic will make it through this giant intersection without you coming into my lane.

On top of that, they don’t even accelerate at a reasonable pace, they always seem to take off as slow as possible!

Half a car is fine, I’ve seen people leave 2-3 car lengths from the car in front. If they’re worried they’ll be rear-ended and punted into the car in front from that distance they’ve got plenty of other things to worry about before that’ll happen.

1. If people have to brake because of your lane change, you’re doing it wrong.

I give these people once. After the first passing zone, they get burned no matter how much they speed up.

There’s a little variation on legality here, but you can cross a single solid white line in most places. It’s not wrong or illegal to cross, it’s just not recommended (in most places) but it’s fine to cross if it is safe to do so

It’s straight-up illegal to have the tire (the tread specifically) sticking out beyond the fender. A buddy got nicked for it in his ‘Cuda way back when— why isn’t this enforced today? How are tire and wheel shops even allowed to mount this stuff?

Worse, tinted WINDSHIELDS... it was a thing I used to see only a few times years ago in Queens in some eurotrash neighborhoods but now I’m seeing it out east on Long Island... like HOW do they not get pulled over daily?

Or they stop behind the line for the red light and immediately start creeping forward, waiting for the light to turn green and they’re halfway into the intersection when it does.

There are so many people who are absolutely terrified of their car. When I graduated college I bought my parents Honda Fit off of them, so my mom knew this car had 113 very peaky hp.

If you arrive at the same time the person at the right goes first. I’m talking about when the other person clearly arrived at the intersection before me.

I 100% agree with you. I like tinted windows and understand them to a point. Once they become so dark that people outside of the car can’t see the driver I feel like it is a safety issue, as it’s impossible to have that non-verbal communication with the other driver that can be important at times.

I had a very insistent person who once tried to wave me thru then I was; turning left when they were turning right, and was there before me.

People not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks.

Once or twice a week I miss my left turn arrow because someone going straight hasn’t the decency to to inch forward so the cars behind don’t block the entrance to the turning lane.  Seriously, give yourself six feet to the car in front, you don’t need thirty feet.

Counterpoint: As a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist, and driver I *hate* super dark limo tinted windows.

^ This guy camping in the left lane not allowing anyone to pass and “brake checking” while spending time watching for reactions in the rear view instead of using the passing lane to pass.

- people not stopping behind the painted stop line at an intersection. It’s there for a reason, just stay behind it.

I put something similar to that in the last poll about driver’s ed. The nicest thing you can do is be predictable and just go when it’s your turn.
