Yeah, I was an RA one year in college (relatively new dorm, no known hauntings). If a student comes to you with typical stress or anxiety over classes or something or a breakup or the like, you can try to talk it through with them. Otherwise, you get them to counseling or, as in this case, if self harm is involved,

WRT 1: if I was allergic to even a bit of egg white, I would probably stop eating eggs altogether? Like, if I was allergic to bacon fat but not bacon meat, I’d probably just stop eating bacon altogether?

That movie had some really interesting, fun bits. One I remember was in the movie, when the poor chef is driving through the storm, he passes a car flipped on the side of the road - that car is the make and model that Jack drives in the book, as a subtle fuck you to King. I love petty stuff like that.

It’s hard to imagine walking into a stadium knowing the majority of people want to beat the crap out of you.

I like Reggie Watts, even though he moved to James Corden’s show (ugh), but getting Weird Al as a replacement bandleader on Comedy Bang Bang was a huge get.

UK has some very solid panel shows. Buzzcocks, QI, the Big Fat Quizzes...

Kind of funny how the guy that’s all about spaceflight reverts to possibly the oldest form of transportation when push comes to shove.

Goddamn, Danny McBride is up there with Rob Zombie in terms of dudes who could make amazing horror movies, but just... don’t.

My dad got puked on in a theater back in the day during the initial run of Night of the Living Dead. Especially funny considering (while a classic) how tame that gore seems now.

One of my favorite cinematic experiences was seeing one of the later Paranormal Activity movies (the one with webcams and the Wii lighting and crap?) in Chicago and the very vocal audience. The movie wasn’t great, but the commentary of “that skinny bitch is dumb as fuck” etc made it worth the admission.

Oh wow, even just the idea of that is going to keep me awake tonight. I don’t think I would’ve attempted watching a second time if that had been kept in. Once would’ve been far more than enough.

The Thing gets me every time. The blood testing scene, where you can tell everyone doesn’t even know what their own results as they’re being tested?? Imagine the horror of not even knowing if you’re you! And fuck that spider head.

You aren’t fooling me this time, Sam Neil!

I can’t resist the opportunity to rep this book any time I can, Sweetness and Power is absolutely fascinating. Actually part of my dissertation was inspired by it. It’s really good, and not terribly long. https://www.amazon.com/Sweetness-Power-Place-Modern-History/dp/0140092331

Totally agreed, it is really thrilling. Just not a movie that kept me awake at night or anything. Which is not at all a knock, Scream is a goddamn masterpiece, just didn’t seem in the same vein as the other entries is all I meant.

Three comments (sorry):

This really pissed me off. I had serious alcohol problems for quite awhile. Almost (in certain respects, sort of did) ruined my life. I got a voicemail very similar to this from my dad. Got me into AA, which I’d been wary of because of the religious shit, but ended up saving my life, I’m sure of it. Sober (well,

I think I’ve only had brain twice.

Right, elite universities teach students to hate rich people. Visit Stanford, Harvard, U Chicago, Yale, Princeton, etc. and tell me that they all hate rich people.

There are some places that do that, like Curry Up Now in San Francisco. They have things like California burritos filled with curry chicken and such. Though like everything in SF, very overpriced.
