I could go so many ways with this:

I was just about to comment this and it was the first reply I saw... wizard

Was fiddling with phone navigation, coming up to a stoplight pulling up behind a stopped, brand new (at the time) C7 Corvette. At the time, my ‘01 Elantra had the stopping power of a squirtgun. As I realize my imminent doom at the last second, I floored the breaks and did one of the last-ditch effort turns ever so slig

The $2,500 tent that he mentioned in the article has its own floor..

Tesla sells directly to consumer without the use of dealer franchises, so yes I guess it would directly contribute to the bottom line and not a third party.

I bought a high mileage Mercedes R230 SL65 with Renntech tune 670hp for low 20s last year. Sure there was some deferred maintenance and yes the C6 Z06 may be better in some areas but I paid 10k less, got 4 more cylinders, many more headaches, and a convertible top to boot! After a few grand in parts and a STAR

I say throw $20K into an older G-Wagon and keep the rest for maintenance. Its older, German and is pretty much guaranteed to last. It might even hold its value over 30 years!

I recently just finished a road trip over the holiday break. I purchased an older model SL65 in Nevada and drove it to Texas. A few hundred miles into the desert, two radiator hoses blew at the same time on Thanksgiving day. I spent the majority of my day waiting for a tow and getting to a mechanic’s shop. Towed to

What about a HIGH mileage R8? I’ve seen some in the mid to high 50K’s I’m sure that would be doable.

A lot of times, dealers will see dollar signs if they know you want to trade in your car. They will take your car for a $4k credit when it might be worth 7K and you still owe $8k. In this scenario you are rolling negative equity into another loan but with the $4k credit and the focus on “monthly payment” you are none

I would suggest a Chrysler Crossfire. If you’re extra diligent, you could find a roadster for ~$5,000. Coupes can easily be found. Reliable Mercedes engine, mostly an SLK320 in an art deco body.

I would second the 850i. My answer would be an Alfa Romeo Series 2 Spider. It’s older, unique, manual, can be had for your pricepoint. I’m just unsure of how you would fit, but with a spider there’s unlimited headroom!

Scorsese commented on this. It was a real countach “for the effect.”

Yep that’s it. The answer we never would have thought of at first. Fuel @ 20 mpg and $3.00/gal = $45,000. That plus cost of other maintenance, plus cost of car and I can see how they get to that number.
