Apples and oranges. Tajima's car was pushing as much horsepower as it could manage, the whole way. The ZL1 will only push as much horsepower as they can keep warrantied for 100k miles. That probably means that at sea level, they won't be driving the boost as hard as they could at higher elevations.

I drove around OKC with an expired OK plate for about 9 months. I'm convinced I never would have had to do anything about it, but I made the mistake of renewing my plate, and so they charged me a "late fee" of around $30, I think.

The hoods were probably off because they sold their radiators for scrap to pay for meth. Little aftermarket air-cooling will keep that 90's grand prix running just a little longer!

depends on the state. I'd start by calling your county/city DMV (or equivalent). Really, you want the state DMV, but they will likely waste your time. I'd guess you will have to go to court, swear it's not stolen, let the police check it out, and then pray that the DMV gods are good to you on the day you try to

Most of the I-35 corridor is lousy with what my friend deemed "HOLY SHIT THERE'S SHIT FALLING FROM THE SKY" behavior.

Or it ends up with someone's car on top of a real pedestrian on the sidewalk. Terrible idea.

I think this will be fine in the end, assuming Ray didn't, you know, steal one.

"this guy" didn't. He was just the webmaster. Did you read the article?

Yes...I know it's not just water. But look how cool!

.30/gal off gas?

For Sale: Silver Camry. Mostly highway miles. Salvage title due to theft. Good cosmetic condition, slight water damage. Ran when parked.

Wow, that brings back childhood horrors. I'm almost positive that was at the playground in a park a few miles from where I grew up. My mom took us there when I was little. I remember climbing up to the slide and hanging out for a bit, and then some kid pushed me down, feet first, on my stomach. My shirt rode up

Guessing, since I've been in a similar situation:

It's kinda defensive.

The difference being that a car that is not running has very few ways of igniting a leaking gas tank. The battery packs contain their own fire source.

Straight road: cruise control

AFAIK, you can drive one anywhere in the country with everything but the light bar. I see them all the time with push bars and spot lights still in place.

Semi-related gripe: There is nothing worse than huge bushes at the exit of a parking lot that goes onto a busy street. How am I supposed to see if anyone is coming when the bushes stick 3" out into the road?

The risks of both gas tanks and Li-ion batteries in collisions are well-known. However, a car spontaneously bursting into flames 3 weeks after an event is a bit more of a surprise.

"'I'd rather be able to power my vehicle from home, than pay some guy in a country that has a population that is hostile towards me to keep my car on the road. "
