Ten-year-old me had such a crush on this sad-puppy:

How about some twin love? They are by far my favorite!

Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. Strong, sensitive, feminist badass. Great outfits.

That is mildy terrifying.

Esmeralda. No judging.

Marceline the Vampire Queen, obvi

Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. Yuuuum.

I heard that she & Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me.

Yes- this. And while I thought the start of the show was a good way of addressing the problem- i.e. make fun of themselves- it did not make up for how abyssmal the rest of the skits were. They played on every negative racial stereotype without anything smart or incisive behind it. Kerry Washington was great with

We can say this about any race. There has never been a South Asian cast member, either. I think the lack of black women on the show is especially glaring because... well, history.

Are you inferring this was not authentic?

I think if they hadn't addressed the elephant in the room, they would have been blasted today for not saying anything. And if they were going to do it, they had to do it jokingly rather than going serious. I think (hope) it was less about getting "off the hook" and more about addressing the situation in the only way

2.2 million last weekend.

Kate McKinnon is nuts in the best possible way. I think I love her.

This. If we're going to have a conversation about a lack of deversity at SNL, the focus needs to stop being solely on casting. Right now SNL has 23 staff writers. Of those 23, four are women. Of those women, zero are black. So it's not just about the cast, and it's no wonder the writers don't know how to write for

This commenter says, "SNL's writers don't know how to write for black women."

A sad waste of Jay Pharoah ( who is super talented) and Kerry Washington (ditto, also super beautiful). The only redeeming moment was the face made by Kate McKinnon (also love her-she's really taking over this season).

Girlfriends nag and boyfriends cheat and have porn on their computer. This is some cutting edge comedic material.
