The funny thing is that this excuse doesn’t absolve him at all. It’s not a crime to talk to a foreign leader, so it doesn’t matter if Perry asked him to make the phone call. I was about to note that "not a lot of people know this..." is a tell for one of his lies, but then realized that narrowing down his tells for a lie would be an impossible task.
