I work with DV victims, on a DV hotline, and we would never recommend pressing charges. That’s not the way hotlines work. I say the system is not supportive because it isn’t. It’s not always, often not, in by best interest of the survivor to go through legal action.

Please stop telling women the cops will always help them, when that’s not always the case. Sometimes they do, but often not. Your situation isn’t the only experience.
