The 2 guys that went to work at Riot were the same 2 that made the original Dota Allstars, which sucked dick until IceFrog took it over. There's a difference, though. Firstly, you haven't played any of the games released within the last decade (MKDA came out in 2002). If you had played MK Armageddon and disliked that, then yes, you could say you'd have a prejudice against the newest entry.

Eul DID make it though, and he's with Valve as well. IceFrog isn't the only original DotA guy on the Valve team.

Because Valve has both the original mod creator (Eul) and the most recent developer of it (IceFrog) helping make Dota 2.

I enjoyed Portal 2's soundtrack (and Portal 2 was my personal GotY), and so far I'm enjoying Skyrim's story (just got it recently), but I think those two should do tradsies.

MK9 plays completely different from the previous games, I would say that its somewhat similar to MK3 but much more refined and balanced.

Windows only recognizing 4GB either means that you're running an x86 (32bit) Windows install, or that your mobo only supports up to 4GB of RAM. It's almost certainly the former.
