Frankly I'd be impressed if they pay the much attention to the actual painting - especially as Vlad was 6 when the triptych was most likely completed.

Really interesting article, but unfortunately its not a particularly unusual situation for an early northern renaissance painting is it - after we're still not sure who the hell is actually in the Arnolfini Double Portrait.

Just to wanted to say I completely agree with you. There seems to be a very vocal groups of guys that only like female characters if they're hot, "badass" and don't cause any problems for whoever they consider the male lead.

Inigo Montoya's whole life was defined by the fact that he couldn't protect his father, hell at the end of the film he even admits he has no idea what to do now (good job there was an opening on the pirate ship Revenge).

Came to post this exact thing. Can't believe this isn't higher up.

As a couple of others have pointed out there were a few male sexbots. I counted two in the showroom and at least one in the brothel. However, there definitely should have been more. Even if you argue that brothels have been and still are almost exclusively aimed at men surely the showroom should be selling bots for

And let us not forget after Sleepy Hollow returns we get

Tell me about it. Unfortunately there is still this idea that History especially History of Art is a soft subject and so can be ignored.

Yeah - but which renaissance are you talking about?

Fair point - I don't know if that says really bad things about DC fans or really good thing about Marvel ones.

DC looks even worse when you realise that pretty much every new costume Marvel has introduced in the last year or so has been so much better than the old swimsuit type costumes - not just Captain Marvel and Psyloche but Wanda, Storm, Valkyrie, Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) etc and the last time DC introduced new costumes

I did feel the need to make some appalling puns after looking at the Netherlands average.

While I love the idea of a Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell miniseries I'm not that pleased with two Londoners being picked for the main roles especially as Norrell as far as I can remember is from York (North East) and Strange is from Shropshire (West Midlands) and so much of the book is about class and also how where

Couldn't agree more. My Granny was one of twelve kids who all had to leave school aged 14. My Mum was one of three kids, two of who went to University, and I'm an only child and doing a PhD. None of those would have been possible if if my parents and grandparents couldn't control the number of children they wanted to

I was not disagreeing with your post, if anything I was trying to expand on it. It also annoys me somewhat when people are talking about art and you realise that they only mean paintings and the not many other types of art out there.

There's also plenty of artworks that were destroyed before photography. I study the fifteenth century Burgundian Netherlands and so much from that period has been destroyed, paintings, sculpture, architecture as well as music. If the Reformation didn't get it, then either the Calvinists, Spanish Invasion, Napoleon,

I came here to post the exact same thing. It survived the Reformation and subsequent Calvanist Iconoclasm, being nicked by Napoleon and the First World War only to go missing in the 30s.

Apart from the fact that most of those listed were owned by municipal galleries. While a lot of art is in private hands you might be surprised what is owned by public galleries (and churches) around the world - especially when you're looking at pre-eighteenth century art.

Stacia Kane's Megan Chase series (first book's called Personal Demons) uses this very concept. It's urban fantasy but might be what you're looking for.
