Did I write “safe”?

Seems like the logical observation is that the driver had no crashes for 10 months and only crashed because police were involved. Perhaps this is a better argument for continuing to collect the money and not having police?

When the wings are roughly co-located along the fuselage it’s a biplane. When they are separated they are called tandem wing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tandem_wing

Boeing has admitted full responsibility for the second crash of its 737 Max model in Ethiopia, in a legal agreement with families of the 157 victims. Lawyers for the families said it was a “significant milestone” for families to achieve justice.Nov 11, 2021

No one braced for impact. Why would they? Until the moment of the crash the plane saw no accelerations outside of what planes normally experience from time to time. The recent one tossing carts, people, and smashing open overhead bins likely saw higher forces on passengers. The final report makes no mention of a call

Recall when some people had accidents with the Audi 5000. Audi soon accepted responsibility and their sales tanked even though in 100% of the cases the fault was due to driver error, pushing the gas pedal instead of the brake. It took nearly 10 years for the Audi brand to recover in the USA.

There is a settlement fund already in place. This is arguing they should be allowed more. I think it is presently more than $1M per passenger, but that won’t make money for the lawyers who would not get a percentage. Not sure what they have promised to the families, but I bet it’s a lot more, and enough to make those

There was less disruption to the flight path ahead of the impact than the recent incident during food service that tossed flight attendants and food carts and caused some people to hit luggage storage hard enough to open the doors.

If the pilot increases the chances of killing all the passengers, they will also die. No pilot will feel that obligation.

It’s taking a dirt nap. Probably not its last.

A good portion of Florida is already Cuban - it’s just they can’t get the gringos to move out.

I’ve wondered what chaos would erupt at a gun show from a number of lady-finger firecrackers spread about on lengthy fuses. When the first goes off, scream “Gun” and exit the area.

For many a gun is just a penis extender so they can screw people more than their 2 inch distance limit.

Makes sense. Squirrels love nuts.

A bit better - Steve didn’t shoot his own vehicle.

I think the other factor is the near draconian response to drunk drivers in many countries - like lifetime removal of driver’s licenses, such that drinking and driving isn’t considered an option in the first place. The problem in the US is casual acceptance that “everyone drives drunk some times.”

But they won’t be drunk driving arrests. They will mostly be converted to “improper lane change” arrests and bigger fines. Lawyers and municipalities will make like bandits and the number of drunks will not change.

I think I prefer a “The Roads Must Roll” future.

Ah - no cars, no thumping midnight bass.

I walked around Mesa - I think it was 105F or so, full sun afternoon, and dew-point of 30F. Seemed really nice compared to Saint Louis with a dew point of 90F. The only oddity was that I didn’t get sweaty, I just became crusted with salt (OK, not really visible, but I could taste it on the back of my hand to check.)
