If what I’ve seen of South Main Auto is true anywhere else, any salt-belt vehicle might have the filler neck rusted out.

Really, it’s the fault of people who crashed into a stopped vehicle.
Failover isn’t a great idea - to manage that one has to keep the primary and backup in constant synchronization. If the primary is boogered up does the backup automatically synch the unwanted changes?
They were doing database administration level work - they have all the rights to the database.
Much of California is backed by a mountain range that traps and concentrates pollutants as the wind flows to the east. On the other side of that range is the remainder of the US. Personal observation: Flew out of LA and as the plane passed over those mountains I could see what might be described well enough as a very…
Buying land in China is an illusion.
If a builder can sell a unit for $100M to a foreign investor who won’t ever use the property there is zero motive to build a $100k home for anyone else.
Recharge is split between regen from braking and charging by dragging the front end when the regen isn’t enough. If one keeps it below some speed the ICE kicks in to keep the battery charged.
When TV shopping, it pays to look at the shipping size to see what the box dimensions are.
“We want to have engineers, we want to have mechanics, we want to build cars, we want to be creative.”
Polka dots. That’s some territory that needs exploring.
It takes years, if not a decade or more, to pass legislation. John Deere is willing to burn all their customers to the ground rather than start down a path that cuts a small percentage from their profits and they will have time to find and hurt exactly those people who are pushing.
Control theory is harder if an actuator fails or the hydraulic power to actuators fail - that appears to be the source of the vapor cloud at the tail.
Like this crash, Harrison’s crash was due to a fuel system failure. In Harrison’s case it was from a tiny part inside the carburetor that had been overlooked by the mechanic who last rebuilt the engine. It was a part press-fit into place and wasn’t expected to ever come loose.
Already in the wind. so to speak, is that a high pressure fuel line developed a large leak. Fuel is used as the working fluid in many of the actuators so it’s not just a problem of losing thrust, but also losing control.
What I could really have used, when I was a kid, was a seat belt buckle cooler. The ability to get a 1st or 2nd degree burn from the all metal chrome plated burning device called a seat belt buckle that had been soaking up the sunshine was an experience I could have done without.
It’s a reason I wanted a Mercedes Sprinter, but with a better motor than they delivered and less corrosion. The ability to get into the vehicle and simply stand up to remove or put on a coat rather than try to Houdini my way out in typical cars was a powerful draw. What’s not to like about 48 inches of head room?
Not the license - the car goes to a crusher, no matter who the owner is, unless the owner presses charges for auto theft. Much tougher to drive with no cars and no friends willing to lend one.
Because a few miles per hour were between losing my parents to a drunk and them just having to buy a new car, I can say whatever agony a drunk driver suffers is not enough. I feel sympathy for alcoholics. I feel blind rage for drunk drivers. The latter allowed made that particular choice while they were sober.
Oil affects the climate, everything else is local damage.
