They are self-selecting, much the same way that flat-earth believers are. While there are some that must simply be using it for the grift, the Sovereign Citizens don’t seem to get any direct benefit beyond self-satisfaction in that belief. I suspect it’s more of a cult experience; us-vs-them.

Tom Swift had an electric runabout, but he didn’t have an electric speedboat. Truly remarkable times indeed.

If only Europe had the same idea after Columbus’s first trip.

I recall when the chip makers started this mess by offshoring the less profitable chip fabs, not realizing that they also offshored the training and expertise for mass production at the same time. They thought they could keep the upper end chip market but it turns out making these things is nearly art at the top end.

Different groups for different reasons. Trump’s move was a short-sighted, poorly thought out attempt to extort other countries to take a hit on their profits, who immediately responded by in-kind tariff increases of their own, and an increase in cost to American consumers by American producers to make up for the

Legally they aren’t criminals until they are convicted. So the materials or money might be held as evidence pursuant to trial; civil asset forfeiture materials are often “tried” and “convicted” and spent on stuff without any trial for the owner.

I blame Nixon for opening the that particular worm can.

No one is forcing you to look. /s

Civil asset forfeiture isn’t needed for those convicted of crimes. That’s criminal asset forfeiture and is already covered; if they can show cash or property is related to the crime it can be seized. Civil asset forfeiture was originally created to handle seizure of pirate ships when no owner could be found to put on

Something desirable in limited supply and the price is going up when there are short-term results pressure from shareholders?

What’s it like when it hits a log?

The beauty of the marketplace is that if one player is awash in cash it doesn’t matter if someone else has a bigger slice. Does anyone sniff at a Rolls Royce and suggest it’s just an also-ran? Apple has $200+ Billion in cash and investments, apparently that’s 7% of the total for the S&P 500. I’m sure they are shedding

The atomic bomb was developed in roughly 5 years from the first letter suggesting it could be done. We went from people gliding down hills with fabric covered wings to seeing the Earth while standing on the moon in less than 70 years and less than 10 years after it was undertaken as a goal.

No one was hurt - except the wallet and inconvenience for the car owner.

I was at a wedding and noticed this guy who seemed really awkward. It took a while before I realized that the 6'1" guy in the suit was, in fact, 14 years old.

I have real paper plates - not the cheap imitations.
