A Telsa Model S weighs about as much as an F150 or an E-class, a Model 3 weighs about as much as your average CUV. So they’re really not heavier. Yes, they don’t use gas but using gasoline taxes an essential source of infrastructure funding is what lead the US to the mess it is in.

Convincing the public to adopt new tech is notoriously difficult, especially if it doesn’t offer anything particularly “new” they didn’t already have. Take just one recent example, DVDs for instance - they spent millions on PR campaigns AND gave’em away like crazy to get people to buy into the tech, and that’s just…

Not a big deal but gasoline taxes are mostly diverted to other non-road expenses already. And damage to roads is primarily a result of temperature cycling, poor initial foundations, and heavy trucks. Making a small change to passenger vehicle weight won’t make a difference.

I have the Polestar 2. 250 mile range is plenty... and the EA network is certainly getting better. The fact that its a real car with real switches and knobs, not an iPad on wheels, is what sold me on it vs. the Model 3.  I can do without the extra range.

I hit a small chunk of shredded tire in my Model S on the highway once, maybe 6"x6". No big deal, that’s what bumpers are for, worse case scenario I just replace the bumper, right? ...right?

I feel like my Bolt has just the right amount of hard controls. Do wish for a fire suppressor button though :)

Some stuff doesn’t bug you much right up front. I think most everyone has been there at one time or another, you think “It’s not that bad, I’ll get used to it” but over time the annoyance becomes hatred.

I was roasted here by some nice Canadians (and maybe some Americans arguing in bad faith) who thought I was was overreacting by suggesting that this American-funded protest be broken up by law enforcement sooner.

I would seriously not be all that thrilled about buying one of these right now. It sounds like there have already been a number of issues with these like issues with the roof, engine failures and so on. That and the ones being delivered might have already have been sitting for months on end outside in huge lots…

Stock price aside, if you report profit, you should pay taxes. Period. Especially 7.2 BILLION with a B in profit. Not revenue... PROFIT. If they claim that $7.35B in profit came from overseas, wonderful. But you can’t repatriate that money without paying taxes. Did they pay taxes in the territories that they claim…

This is why rich people buy politicians. It’s the best way for them to stay rich.
