Agreed on price...and especially given the horrid fuel economy this is not a compelling combination. Can also accept that the Santa Cruz’s styling just isn’t your scene...but the Maverick just looks so derpy. I think it’s mostly that the front and rear lights look far too big (and dated in design) for the body?

Agreed with everything you said...but the Maverick is also hideous, in fact far uglier than the Santa Cruz. If the hybrid can eventually be had with AWD then that will be a hit. Hopefully Hyundai puts a Tucson hybrid/PHEV drivetrain in this at some point too.

When’s the drum circle by Tree 9?

Might they be...street youths?

They’re too busy slapping PZEV stickers on everything instead of keeping up with important trends in the marketplace (say, like electrification).

I’m not suggesting it’s not a security risk at all, but simply that perhaps it should be pretty far down the list for those who tend to complain about it?

Also funny because I read a Musk worshipping article the other day talking about how he has a “hire no assholes” policy at Tesla, and how he is so good at reading candidates to make sure they hire straight forward down to earth employees. And I was like - really? REALLY? (also not my experience from interviewing there

Sheeple like you sharing your bluetooth with big brother - do you really want Toyota being able to access your grandma’s phone number and contents of your grocery list from you text history?!*

Ha, will add one to this about intersections and the culprit is my dear wife herself. She regularly stops at this intersection down the street from us where the cross streets have a stop sign, but the direction we are driving does not. Her logic: “it feels like it should be a stop sign”.

There’s a Legacy wagon, it’s lifted with cladding and called an Outback. That they don’t sell it elsewhere isn’t particularly relevant.

Hey man, it’s zero when it’s not running!

Haha that certainly is a pretty accurate description of the sound. I don’t know, I’ve grown to like it (someone who has never heard a Porsche flat 6 might think it sounds rough too).

Also any word on EV range? Would kind of be nice to know given the topic at hand and all...

I want to burn that stupid badge on our 100% ICE Subaru by setting it on fire with gasoline.

People are stupid (and also illogical) as this story highlights - which is a huge reason why PHEVs are a great next step forward. Use kid gloves to get them used to doing all their commuting on EV range, when its time to buy their next vehicle no way in hell they will go back to throwing $50-100 a week at gas.

Also pointing out that Subaru has been super weak on the PHEV/BEV adoption. Don’t think I’m the only Subaru owner who is fed up with their BS and are more than happy to look elsewhere for compelling electrified alternatives. Yes they have the BEV under development with Toyota but who knows when that will actually come

On paper, true. But The S54 and S62 respectively are much more special engines than the turbocharged newer engines you find in the #40s today. Don’t even drive it, just go listen to them side by side.

Seriously. The loan doesn’t sound like such a bad play for the guy mentioned - reliable car that holds value, rates are cheap, he seems decently employed and have savings...why not, instead of sinking a ton of cash instead?

Step 1: Sell

Saw one just last week for the first time in a long time. Agreed they  look quite different from other econoboxes in person - they have a certain muscular look to them in person given its bulbous curves.
