Time does funny things to German car values. Lexus in particular seem to have depreciation curves of their own, very unusual compared to most other brands.

They’re great cars but I ended up in the opposite camp as you. I really really wanted one, but clean ones go for $10k all day long like you said. I just can’t justify that price when you can have a 3 series for half the money. Yes there will be more maintenance, but at least for me it’s a 3rd car and meant to be a…
Yup. The IS market is entirely overpriced. Purely a function of supply and demand I’d say. If you’re brand agnostic there are better cars you can buy for the money or similar cars you can buy for less. But if you’re all about an IS300 then unfortunately you’re stuck in this stupid market, stupid you.
Right at $10k, firm, though? Adult me says that problem is that there are vehicles that are simply better at that price or can justify asking a smidge more.
That’s a good point - never been a fan of Ford’s infotainment systems, now it all adds up why they have that silly tumbling rocks animation on this thing.
Yup - agreed. They finally took a step in the right direction with the 2.5 in the Crosstrek - but think that’s auto only? That thing is begging for shocks and WRX drivetrain. I dreamt about doing that someday with our old Crosstrek...still dream about it with our ‘16 Outback if we hold on to it long enough (thinking…
Yeah there’s certainly that group that only buys “domestic” and this will go after some Jeep sales - can’t imagine that’s a huge group. And there will always be a group of hipsters who just want something different/ “more” capable than a Subaru at least on paper.
Damn that’s scary, glad to hear she walked away uninjured - I can’t even imagine how rough that would be to deal with psychologically. She’s earned her right to choose the car she feels most protected in I’d say.
Yup, spent enough time in Silicon Valley to see this many times over. It’s rare and almost stupid to see the whole thing through - just come up with an idea seemingly interesting enough for the VCs to throw some money at you, milk it for all its worth while you can (regardless of how well your company is actually…
Amen brother.
Hello fellow Oregonian! Speaking to those clueless buyers though - to them all AWD vehicles are made equal...and in that case why would anyone buy a vehicle with this atrocious interior, which will be the first thing they notice cross-shopping the options? Just buy a damn Crosstrek/Forester and be done with it...which…
Yeah as much as I want to like this vehicle I’m not sure whom it’s for.
Yeah that dash is atrocious. And at least going by Doug’s review of the Badlands I saw yesterday the steering wheel is truly the piece of rental car junk from 2000 it looks like - and it’s literally what you’ll be in contact with the entire time you’re driving this thing. Ridiculous for a vehicle at this price point.
had to be a Nissan
I definitely have a soft spot for these. Just watch them build a weird following as the design ages. It was too expensive and had a non-backseat when it first came out. They hold their value surprisingly well even today, but as they become more affordable and if you don’t care about a backseat, I think it’s a damn…
...pretty sure that’s his point.
Sounds like it’s time to go buy a rusty old Alfa then! :P
See Bradley’s response. But to some of your concerns, (and I say this as a current Bolt driver, previous Spark EV driver) I really see a LOT of merit in PHEVs. If you’re a city dweller like me you probably won’t be using anywhere near the full range of your BEV on a regular basis. If you’re in the countryside or drive…
Haha wow an actual response which I honestly wasn’t expecting, this is good service!
Word has it there’s a new Parler edition in the works, but only a handful of nutjobs are aware of it.
