And he keeps saying his 2003 Silverado had more options than the 2019 he bought. What the hell kind of base model is he paying that much money for???

Your parents looking to adopt an adult child, by any chance? Comes with wife and adorable grand daughter.
So then why doesn’t U/L just sell a monthly subscription to their platform, or a flat transaction fee, or a yearly license fee or something like that and call it a day? They’re just providing a platform after all, according to your take? Why do they get to dictate the pricing, not let drivers decide to accept/reject a…
That’s awesome and you’re a brave soul. I had an 05 Legacy GT wagon that I absolutely adored, but I was also constantly terrified about catastrophic failure. I didn’t really need it after my wife and I moved in together, so was time for it to go (3 cars and street parking in San Francisco will make you quickly pick…
The stated use case was that the guy wants to buy a damn car, so let’s play the game and keep calm about it. Instead should we also be telling him that nah, visiting his friends or camping isn’t a good use of his time or money either, he should be investing in XYZ instead?
Absolutely... in fact you can easily get a turbo XT with a stick under $10K all day long if you want to roll the dice on one.
That sounds like an awesome use of your Transit! Plus if you’re particularly concerned about off-roading I’m assuming it’s not impossible to get a slight suspension lift on it, get some under carriage armor slapped on, and maybe some beefier tires. In most cases like you said more than just needing the additional…
$100/day gets you 100 days of traveling before you hit $10k.
“We’re at 15 cases, and soon it will be zero. So I think we’ve done a tremendous job”
and let’s not forget dieselgate, which killed tons of people
Sure, but...just look at it!
How big is your house and what the hell are you doing in it? That’s surcharge is more than my entire monthly electricity bill for our 2k sq.ft house (wowza just saw your comment about your house being 3 times as large, OK Mr. Moneypants!)...in which I’m already charging an EV AND paying the same surcharge you’re…
“But...can we listen to the BKed fraud instead, if we’re too dumb to understand or simply don’t like what the adults in the room are saying?” ~43% of America, apparently.
Was just thinking - this is everything you could want from a family vehicle. Yes it’s not a sports car or anything exotic - but for a majority of buyers this its great. Looks good, loaded with features, economical enough, and should be able to carry everything the average family needs to haul. Personally I’d love to…
It’d be so awesome if manufacturers were able to offer mix and match options where you could everything from just a basic ICE engine, or PHEV, or BEV of the same vehicle based on your needs.
Absolutely - it really is a pretty great option given everything it has to offer. Even without comparing to the mayhem that is the US currently.
The plug-in part isn’t what worries me. It’s that it’s a 4 cylinder turbocharged supercharged plug-in electric. It’s achingly beautiful and love that it gives me some electric range (pretty much a requirement for me with our next car)...but the complexity of that drivetrain worries me about reliability.
Yeah we’re kind of maxed out on what we want to achieve education wise so don’t think that’s an option. My employer does have a decent sized facility out in Swindon (rhymes with Schmintel)...but then again it’s Swindon :) - so if we’re doing this I might as well look in to other options too.
Yeah the US, for all its claims of free market exceptionalism, has become anti-competitive beyond belief in so many industries. I think a lot of it comes down to lobbying power.
