I recently found myself wishing I’d bought a somewhat shitty 540i for the 3500 that I spent on my pristine 318ti, this kinda made me glad I didn’t.

I wish I could star this more. This entire post is essentially saying “do not believe any of the bad advice Tavarish regularly hands out.” It’s the perfect example of why buying high-mile, maintenance-intensive vehicles “for cheap” is a terrible idea.

I had one...a 2003 540i m-tech 6 speed and literally everything that people warned me about the car ended up failing on the car.

I frankly don’t see why not. Classic cars are a-plenty, as well as nostalgic Japanese sports cars, All free of rust and cheap to buy. Everything and anything can be found locally, and traffic is not a problem in your daily commute unless you work downtown for whatever reason.
