Some of you here act like when somebody spends $2M on a handcrafted car the money just turns to vapor. In fact, it goes to the fine craftsmen (and women I’m sure) who built it, who will in turn spend it on things built by other people, or services from other people, who will then do the same.

I’m on board with all of the ~20 current commenters to this thread. This is one of the few Porsche cars that really makes me tingle. Funny that the writer of this story would write in the tone he has... This is like basically the only acceptable $2 million Jalop ride. The engineering, development etc of this car is

You can be a tasteless rapper who spends $2M on a Bugatti, or you can be someone who understands engineering and the art of fine craftsmanship... and get a Singer.

If I had $2M pocket change, I would love to be one of the “75 fools” to part with a couple of mil to own a Singer DLS. These things are stunning works of art, with performance to match, and will only appreciate in value.

I feel your pain when it comes to asshole fathers. The good thing is they eventually die, the bad is the PTSD really never goes away. YMMV, thanks for your comments. As my Mom used to say, “I can forgive, but forgetting is a whole other thing.” (Thank God she escaped the bastard)

Thanks for sharing this! I’ve owned a 3rd gen Prelude (1988 Si), and still own a 1999 Type SH (bought it new back then). I like how much of that 1st gen Prelude’s features carried over through the generations...well, except for that 4th gen. ;-) The 5th gen has that same traditional coupe layout of long hood, short

As someone who really wanted a musclecar back when I was younger, and watched the values go from “maybe one day if I get a good job” to completely unobtainium, I wondered what the cars of our generation would be that everyone would eventually want. All I had to do was look at a drift day parking lot and a copy of Gran

Thanks for sharing this, it’s a great story.  Never apologize for being sincere. I don’t.

I lived in Falls Church in 1979 and was at that time about the age you appear to be in the photo.

Favorite comment of the week.

This car has a special place for me in particular. When i was a kid my family fell on somebreally hard times so at one point the choice was between the mortgage and keeping my dad’s work truck. He chose the mortgage so had no way of getting the cabinets he built installed or any of us five kids anywhere. A family

Sorry for being sincere in the Jalopnik comments, but my love of the 1st gen Prelude is tangled in family history and a father who knew how to manage aerospace projects but cratered when it came to being a dad or a decent husband.
