Well they can't go in a hurricane because of wave sizes and so forth. They have to balance wind, wave conditions and weight of the boat to get optimal conditions, which is what they are sailing in when setting these conditions. May not be the fast winds possible but certainly they are aiming for the best winds.

I've been a fan of them since there Debut and am excited to see it here on Gizmodo. I really wish they came back with another album. A "Joseph Roberts" already said; there album "Little By Little" was probably the very best they've done and it seemed like they were getting better and better with each album. Extremely

Love my Citizen Eco-Drive solar watch. This one is neat and about the same price as thew one I got last year...I should have waited for this one :P

I use my iphone on "airplane mode" to listen to music at work on, saves my battery so I can listen to music all day while maintaining my battery until I get home. I will shut off airplane mode to check e-mail and messages during my breaks etc. but since I am not supposed to use the phone during work it's a way to

Yeah, as Kspray_dad said; here in Canada, at least in the Maritime provinces, we have bags of milk. In fact that's all I ever buy; get way more bang for your buck, 4L worth of milk in total, when you buy the bags as they come in packs of three.

Started using my Motorola Razr, version 2 and then in 2008 I moved onto the HTC Touch, first generation of it, because at the time I could not afford an iphone. However I soon became disillusioned with Windows Mobile and how horrible it was and how terribly the phone would lock up mid-conversation with people etc.

Fiskars are the best axes, I keep one in my car and my friends and I use the small hatchet versions for all our camping trips, they make quick work of downed trees into fire-wood :D

I thought the same thing, haha.

agreed, I did say "if" :P

True, I was thinking this could act similar to a mini-trombe wall myself.

Actually it is efficient; it would be a thermal mass collecting heat, if placed near any windows on a south facing property, allowing it to be release it's built up thermal storage of heat at night; it's a tiny "trombe wall", is it fully effective, hardly but it could potentially work. You'd be surprised what does.

This would save money from someone's heating bill if properly placed in a home near south-facing windows actually, it could potentially pay for itself in home heating savings. I'd potentially pay for it; essentially this would act like one large battery at night; ie: thermal storage.

As an energy systems guy (renewable energies) this is actually a great way to have some thermal mass in the home if it was on the south side of the home, absorbing sunlight and slowly releasing it at night helping reduce the heating load of the home. It'd be a nice touch in a passive-solar home.

Hey no problem, yeah I feel if you need to be respectful on the internet since many are not so I concur.

Oh yeah I didn't mean that you were completely off-base, I should have added that I know it'd still be a challenge to haul the crippled ship, just felt some people might think they were wacko's, lol. Sorry if it felt like I was coming down on you personally. It sounds like you know more about boat motors than I

Sort of true but not...they actually could have taken it, had the equipment and decided against it after exploring the ghost/wreaked ship and discovering that the oil boiler had ruptured and oil and fuel was everywhere plus there were other structural failures that ment it was not worth spending the 10's of thousands

In Canada they've been here as long as I can recall, I'm 28. I love them and hunt for them even in the early summer I've found Cream Eggs still in stores in places until as late as mid-July and as early as November or December, like this year, I've always had at least 3 in my fridge, haha. Only thing is two years ago

Cansolair systems are cheap and effective ways to heat your home. You can find a ton of different styles for your home or a favourite one to either buy or build. Also switching to things like Heat Pumps, simply getting an energy audit (provinces/states should usually have rebates or discounts on these) and finding out

Unfortunately people will not do something if they hear; "it's bad, really bad, just not in your life-time bad". I work in the renewable fields sector, still finishing up my schooling but I can easily tell you after the research and on-site work auditing homes etc. People just don't want to make changes that would

Merino wool all the way. It does not smell, repels some water and if it is wet then it stay's warm. Dries quick etc. The only down-side at all is the cost and even then it depends where and for what purpose the clothing is for. For camping I use polyester as a base layer or a thin t-shirt that is a wool and polyester
