Two questions: documentation, and, well, documentation.
Two questions: documentation, and, well, documentation.
Since previous commenters have said this method works fine, my only addition can be that there is an even better method: use cardboard instead of paper. Cardboard holds a decent imnpression of the picture-frame's back, so it's pretty easy to mark things out for later hole-making. As with the paper version, tape or…
Given that previous commenters say that this works fine, I cant say my method is better, but I still prefer it: cout out a piece of cardboard (and mark the position of hangers, pins, etc on it), and blu-tack, tape, or otherwise mount it on the wall. Cardboard has the advantage of being rigid, and will level itself…
Knowing the shortcuts is good, but what would really help is a way to hack the system shortcuts and make the easy keystrokes do different things. Making Win+F open Google Desktop, for instance. Or changing Win+L to log out/change user instead of lockout.
I've got a sheet screwed to my kitchen door near the phone. It's the best place for leaving notes. Would be even better if I could get a sheet of steel behind it, but that's for some other time...
Just today while tutoring a small group of students, we all fell silent because nobody had any questions or any answers. I like silence. Then when it's over, it's okay to talk about something else. But if you are with someone who might take silence as an opportunity to dump you and move on, then it's important to have…
A better title would be 'how to show a distinct lack of grace and sensitivity'. The post comes across as pretty thoughtless. Not really deserving of a mention by LH. The pure selfishness of it makes me wonder how many lifehackers think of other people at all. Can we have a hack about how to give someone else a morale…
Hmm. The diversity of opinion on what a former employer can say suggests we need a post on the topic. My own impression is that employers are not allowed to say anything that might lend itself to discriminatory practices on the part of the prospective employer. In short: job title, period of employment are the extent…
Given that Diigo has been around nearly a year, has developed the product further, and seems to have a substantive userbase, I'm a bit surprised that there aren't more entries on it here. Time for an update perhaps?
Anthony and I are well-matched, because I am an advocate of complaining long and loud about anything and everything. It is the first prerogative of a consumer, a citizen, and is not enshrined in the US constitutions as an inalienable right only because they never finished arguing over it!
I LOVE this idea! Especially since I live in a foreign country and can use it to block every message from work, government and all the rest. If they don't like it they can just re-register under a US domain!
The Worldwide Namecheck produces two other people with my first and last names. I am the only one with my middle name.
@thethrizzle: It works fine on a home network. I set it up as a means of testing the stream. But I don't bother using it for listneing. It's far easier to map a drive letter to the audio folder or to use Winamp and just play files directly. I can't see any point in setting up a streaming server for intranet use.
@vranghel: Vibe Streamer works for me too. I like the way it lets me assign shares to users and folders. I can share audio tapes with colleagues and music with friends.
@thor222:
Both. Plus whiteboards.
Also, just remembered, it would be great if Firefox had an option to run a variety of profiles, and had an easy-to-use profile switcher. One of my profiles would then be a stripped-down version for low memory consumption, while another profile might be strictly for multimedia browsing, and so on.
I've noticed that Firefox can take several minutes to shut down. Task Manager shows the mem usage decreasing slowly during this time. So if I want some memory back pronto, I use Daphne to kill it quick.
Perfesser: If the cable service gets you a $1 discount on your broadband connections, it's hardly worth keeping the cable service. Of course, a $1 difference means it's hardly worth getting rid of too, but there's no need to actually switch on the TV.
Isn't that a bit complicated? Making a phone call instead of using a few keystrokes or a pencil+notepad? It sounds a bit Rube Goldbergian/Heath Robinsonesque.
