Damn. That’s surprisingly impressive.

Yeah. This is not military, but still government: Until a few years ago, the US Post Office’s site had instructions on how to ship a hippo.
“... (yes, I risked being shot to take these pictures)“
This whole article can be boiled down to one sentence:
Good for him! I’d imagine this article would’ve had a very different anecdote attached had he not gone for it. :D
Well, I’d hope the manufacturers and government care. I agree, 1 to 3 MPG is nothing to the individual, but spread out over a production run it could result in a decent lessening of fuel use overall. That’s why it’s being done.
“That is a bonkers $5,000 off the sticker price and it brought the new car only $776 above the average price of the used ones that were two-years-old. When you factor in that that sale price can be combined with the low APR financing, it seems almost foolish to buy used.”
That drive may have beat the driver to shit, but it looks like it hardly phased the truck.
Brilliant! :D
Sad now. No one can replace $kay. Nobody does it better.
“My friend’s assessment was fairly positive.”

Guy wasn’t able to stay on top the entire way; nearly got a leg smushed at the very end. But still, that was at least 95% of a near-superhuman feat, surfing that in as far as he did. Had he stayed on top til it stopped moving, they just should’ve handed him the trophy right there, as well as a big damn cape.
Chances are that his sphincter had the opposite reaction when the engine blew. :-S
Counterpoint: The only thing that should ever be slammed like that is a panini.
Man, car blogs have been a total eye-opener for me, a non BMW owner. I had no idea that in this case “German engineering” meant “same tolerances as an AK-47". :-/
