Yeah, the flaws are a lot more apparent seeing it again as an adult.

I adored THE STUFF when i saw it on video in the 80s. It’s definitely aged but I still harbor strong affection for it as a crazy take on Body Snatchers. And Michael Moriarty is reliably weird.
I’m seeing this sucker Saturday morning on April 27th and fully expect the days leading up to that will be a gauntlet of avoiding massive spoilers on the internet.
I think I saw that POS in a movie theater! It’s got Indiana Jones in it!
Thank you, older members of the kinja community, for always getting me.
I was actually going to seek you out specifically to pose this question, since you seem to possess deep comics knowledge. It seems a major aspect of the design of this character is wish-fulfillment. The ability to become something greater on command.... but also the ability to revert to this smaller, anonymous figure…
LOGISTICS QUESTION...
This is a project that has been in development with different people attached for DECADES.
The physical transformation that Linda Hamilton underwent before T2 was awe-inspiring. I didn’t think anything of her in the first movie but in T2: she was iconic. Carved out of stone. I had a crush on her and I wanted to BE her. This character made herself over as a Terminator in that movie, and the real impact was…
I’ve got issues with Last Jedi but I liked it (and it’ll be a little easier to assess after Episode 9 is released). But whatever issues I’ve got with Last Jedi, I’m still really looking forward to seeing what Rian Johnson would do with his own trilogy.
Concept art for an animated film version that Spielberg was working on in the 90s:
I go to the movies A LOT (to escape The Bad Place of my reality), and— between apps and websites—it’s never been easier to buy movie tickets in advance... but I totally hit a wall with this one. It was like trying to buy tickets to a big Star Wars movie or major concert tickets.
I wish it would turn off some folks -- I’ve had the dickens of a time trying to get tickets to this thing!
SUPERMAN 64 VR!
This thing broke AMC’s app when tickets went on sale this morning. I haven’t had this much trouble buying a ticket since one of the STAR WARS Saga movies.
YES. It’s like Chekhov’s Showdown at the Skyscraper: you can’t just introduce something like that in a movie like this and not remotely go there.
I recall controversy over a CNN ad featuring Paula Zahn that had a “zipper sound effect”
I feel like the story of A QUIET PLACE is easier to accept if they’re on a remote island or otherwise isolated from the rest of the world. The idea that most of the world is wiped out is tougher to sell, especially when the the big solution seems so obvious.
Someone made serious money off that record-scratch sound effect back in the day.
I just assume they’re both going to pull a Linda Hamilton and get born again hard!
