REN KNIGHTS!! YES!!!

I had such a crush on Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane as a child in the early 80s. I was much too young to even understand what it meant to have a crush, but I just remember my older sister saying that “Lois Lane” was ugly and thinking to myself, “I think she’s amazing....

Could this be the first really good live-action Transformers movie??

While impressing Kevin Smith is like impressing someone who is very easily impressed, it’s still encouraging to hear something nice about the production of Episode IX.

Agreed.  Mad Max: Fury Road is a clinic on action filmmaking, by one of the most underrated filmmakers out there.

Good action sequences in films are a real art. Michael Bay and filmmakers like him really mucked it up with poor editing. There’s lots of things wrong with Bay’s movies, from the terrible scripts/dialogue on up, but even his action sequences are terrible at setting up geography and stakes.

I LOVE “THE AMERICANS”. It’s wonderful. From the premise, I thought it might be super-camp, in the vein of “AMERICAN HORROR STORY” on the same network, but it is wonderful and grounded. Not played for camp at all. Moving, utterly heartbreaking portrait of marital/family dysfunction wrapped around this violent

Yeah, I think that quote is clumsily worded.  I’m assuming he means to differentiate it from the sort of sequel that just repeats the same beats/formula as the previous entry.  But essentially... it’s a sequel, Krasinski!

Look at how angry the Netflixers are!

GNR and Axl Rose are easy targets, so I’ll be the one person in the comments defending them.

It’ll drop when I’m at work and I’ll have to either wait hours until I can watch it at home or, more likely, watch it on my phone with one earbud in. The way movie trailers were always meant to be watched!

Haven’t seen this in ages but for me, the part that shook me the most was when one of the girls accidentally kills a friend.  That felt much more gruesome than the monsters killing them.  Also, the alternate ending was creepy as hell to me.

I’m a Disney Parks nutter and would LOVE to see GDT make that “HAUNTED MANSION” movie he signed up for, which focused on the “Hatbox Ghost”.

I, too, quit The Middle -- in one of my great “there’s too much tv!!!” purges.  But I found the show very endearing and would have been intrigued by a Sue Heck series.

Now playing

I was hoping for a Clubber Lang cameo in Creed II.  According to my extensive Wikipedia research, Mr. T’s a born-again Christian who doesn’t wear his gold anymore, so maybe he wants to distance himself from his old roles.  But Clubber Lang was *scary*.

I’m with you here.  I revisited V after many years and it’s surprisingly good!  It actually tries to deal with the aftermath of the beating that Rocky took by Ivan Drago in the previous movie.  His son’s bully plot is a little wince-inducing, including the “GO FOR IT!” montage, but everything as a whole is much better

I saw Rocky IV when it was in the theaters, with my mom.  My mom doesn’t care about boxing or sports in the slightest, but when Rocky beat Ivan, SHE STOOD UP AND CHEERED.  These movies know how to work an audience.

James Earl Jones. No way to replace him. It’s like finding a new voice for Darth Vader — it’d just be an imitation of J.E.J.

I’m sure he’s shot enough cameos for years to come but I *do* wonder if they’re going to do something extra special to honor him moving forward.
