Gollum: The Game: The Movie: A The Lord of the Rings Adventure

My assumption was that they were specifically critiquing the YEAR 1980 - but I'm not enough of a connoisseur to properly judge the year in music history. I suspect the writer isn't either?

Haven’t watched the first ep of the special yet - but if this is Mulaney positioning himself for a late night host role, that would make a lot of sense. I hadn't thought about it before, but it seems like the natural progression for him.

I probably go to the movies more than the average person - but out of the current slate of trailers out there, this one actually seems the most suited for a fun movie night out. Certainly moreso than the average superhero movie, horror flick, or even gritty John Wick-inspired action movie.

Maybe it's time for Mel Brooks to make a Marvel movie?

The absence of No Distance Left to Run on this list is a minor tragedy.

I hadn’t thought of that! He’d make a stellar Dracula. That said, it’s a character that’s technically new for the MCU, but it would be pretty funny for him to list one of horror cinema’s oldest and most popular characters as fresh and original.

And yeah, obviously Norman isn’t a fresh or new character, so it’s probably not him. But I’m not going to ungrey the dude saying that loudly and dickishly in the response.

Yeah I think he'd be aces in the roll, particularly if taking inspiration from Warren Ellis's Thunderbolts run. Maybe have him running for mayor against Fisk. And I think there's plenty of material to be mined by a Spider-Man who's seen an alternate universe Green Goblin and knows what Normans are capable of.

Interesting people are thinking Galactus. My first thought was a cameo as Norman Osborne in the new Captain America to tee him up for Thunderbolts.

But Happy is based off a Grant Morrison story, so the elevator pitch is just the jumping off point for something way more batshit. This miniseries seems to be playing things straight.

Correct me if I'm misremembering, but wasn’t the original a New Gods script that was hastily retrofitted to MotU when they couldn't get the rights?

Yeah, I suspect that her allegedly deep, hands-on involvement in the new Harry Potter series is in part to be like “See? It wasn’t the stars who made the franchise successful. It was me!”

Yeah. The irony here is that the Harry Potter kids are more famous, more influential, and more associated with the franchise in the popular imagination than she’ll ever be.

When they talk about the future of cinema, they sound like tech bros discussing crypto.

Yeah, not really an insult at all, but I’m just wondering why anyone would think a personal insult would deter Shore. Hasn't his entire career been a personal insult?

Yeah that phrase "collective ADHD" gets a big eye roll from me.

Anecdotally, my mom is in love with Odenkirk after Breaking Bad, and I don't have the heart to share his earlier comedy stuff with her.

Doesn’t he have a reputation for being aggressive and unpredictable?

Yeah, I’m a little surprised that Odenkirk’s name isn’t enough to get a show greenlit.
