I realized I’d miswritten that, and by that point, I couldn’t go back and edit.

I just think there’s a lot of details we don’t know here. My natural assumption, just based off what I know about Lorne, is to think the worst of Michaels. He knew Heckerling made a pass at Kattan and knew that she wasn’t interested in

My dumb brain immediately thought “Why are we worried about Omar? He looks happy”.

And then I realized “Oh yeah. cover story. Game of Thrones. duh.”

Well that seems like a generous reading.

Is there more to the story here than what’s posted?

Because Heckerling’s position here seems pretty ambiguous. It’s the kind of situation where she could be trying to leverage Kattan in a quid pro quo circumstance. But it also sounds like it could conceivably be a situation where she just didn’t want to direct the

Frasier Crane, now hosting a public access show, meets Tim the Toolman Taylor, and they form an unexpected friendship centered around the shared belief that they’re being persecuted for their politics. Really, everyone just finds them both insufferable. half-hour CBS sitcom. cancelled after one season.

Oh, now we’re coming in with the fallacies! But, I mean, all you have to do is look at my post history to realize that’s preposterous.

I’m not sure what else there was to say initially. The thesis was right there. It literally contextualized what the article was about.

Poorly framed? Sure. But her argument is literally “People use this to justify misogyny in Game of Thrones. This is why that argument doesn’t hold water”. Seriously, that’s the text, and it largely exists as the ability to convey a history lesson.

Maybe you think the point that she’s refuting is silly (she clearly does

This isn’t a “gotcha” article about what Game of Thrones “got wrong”. It’s literally just “Let’s use this pop cultural thing as a springboard to talk about history!”.

No. You didn’t point out why her argument is bullshit.

You turned an exercise in historical learning, one contextualized around the Game of Thrones universe, into an excuse to call the writer wrong. There is no “wrong” here unless she gets the facts about life in the Middle Ages wrong, because her arguments were

1) This

No. My point is that the author’s argument is “This is a popular conception. Here’s why it’s wrong”.

That is a perfectly valid transition into what’s essentially an “Isn’t that neat” historical discussion that uses a pop culture phenomenon to draw readers in.

As for the general sexism of the Game Of Thrones world, criticism on that front has been met with a standard response when critiquing mistreatment of women: a shrug and a “Well, it’s historically accurate for the Middle Ages.” Game Of Thrones, as the most popular pop culture offering drawing heavily from Middle Age

Call of Duty: Contemporary Military Engagement

oh right! Yeah, I remember that now. Yeah, the New 52 was a pretty big clusterfuck.

Yeah. I mean, the context of visual language changes over time, and that’s always been the case. Just look at the once ubiquitous montage.

And action movies have long had a reputation for doing some really silly shit with a straight face.

Huh.

Was your comment funny on purpose?

Didn’t the Morrison shift happen because of missed deadlines and the transition to the New 52?

The Bleeding Cool article suggests that he’ll either get a short Catwoman run or a miniseries to close out his story.

The other rumor is that Bendis will be taking over the core Batman book which seems like the obvious choice, I guess. Particularly if DC was concerned that King’s run was too esoteric for the flagship

Unless all those cooks are just straight up fixing the Goyer script!

I think even if there was no one complicit in her assault there, just returning to that world could be triggering. But of course everyone handles trauma differently, so who knows.

I mean, I’m here for it, but then again, I sat out all the Terminators since T3 (which I promptly forgot tbh). Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna, and the return of Linda Hamilton can engender a lot of good will, but I’m also just kind of down to watch a movie where killer robots smash each other.

It’s not something I was
