Depends how you get in. A lot of the more experienced guys I have seen come from the auto industry/suppliers. I worked for a Tier 1 supplier for a bit and was bored, so I changed. Now some people straight out of school with a fresh engineering degree are coming in and starting from the ground up. It’s really

Not true, I download EDRs at work investigating collisions. They (some, and especially newer vehicles) record all sorts of useful info. Examples include speed, throttle position, braking, and steering input. Very useful for the “what caused the accident” and other similar types of questions.

Just FYI, most new cars already have EDRs and I download them at work all the time. Some date surprisingly far back, I have data from a mid 90's GM vehicle for example, though to be fair it is very rudimentary data. The new vehicles record quite a bit.

Good name!

I once got 30.5 L/100 km in city driving this winter. Yeti does not understand fuel economy. A modern diesel swap like the Cummins R2.8 would help a bit.

Yeti, my ‘87 FJ60 Land Cruiser.

Just finished a much shorter drive in a much newer vehicle.

29-year-old Canadian dude who would also buy one, and I agree fully. This is one of the rare cases of “if they brought it to North America I’d buy one” that I could actually afford!

Those headers look awesome running down together like that! Is that an Akrapovic system on there?

I agree, the styling is the key feature, and it has me hooked!

Picture, because pictures are fun:

I’ve had a KTM 690 supermoto with a slightly older version of this engine, it was a fun light bike like you say. Awesome to make passes on the track on unsuspecting sport bikes (only to be blitzed on the next straight). I’ve also spent a decent amount of time with a Monster 1100 evo, fun in a different way.

I’m torn. The concept 701 Vitpilen has been my background since HD pictures of it came out, and I figured I would buy one when it came to production. But now there is the 790 Duke, and likely a future 801 Vitpilen...

Don’t know about existing vehicles, but working in engineering in the Detroit area, you get to know some secrets about upcoming vehicles :)

I’m only just starting to learn this feeling, but so far I like it. Doing engineering work for a supplier, and am/have been already involved with the JL and so on.

I worked for FAG at a different location in Bavaria for a yearlong co-op. Yes, we had FAG hats, FAG shirts, even our ID cards had FAG right above our pictures.

Did you try sitting in the second row seats?

Because when they took the picture of the car, to make the sticker for the side of the car, the sticker hadn’t been made yet :D

Wheels so big they had to put the all terrain and BFG logos on the car instead of the tires.

As far as I can tell, a hitch receiver was a factory option in Europe on my (lowly vs S-Class) E60 5 Series. The spare tire liner even has a built in hitch ball holder, for the strange euro J shaped ones anyway. I could not find one of those nice vertically oriented hidden ones like OEM in North America, but settled
